Over 350 Horses Competed at New Vocations Horse Show, T.I.P. Championships

Some 353 horses from 23 states competed in the fourth annual New Vocations All-Thoroughbred Charity Horse Show to compete in hunter, jumper, pleasure, dressage and western dressage disciplines. Held in conjunction with The Jockey Club’s Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.), the show gave horses the opportunity to perform and compete at the Kentucky Horse Park in the Rolex Stadium, Walnut Arena, Claiborne and Stonelea rings. Better than $60,000 was raised to support New Vocations’ efforts to rehab, retrain and rehome retiring racehorses.

“This horse show grows each year, both in terms of attendance and support,” said Sarah Coleman, New Vocations’ Director of Public and Community Relations. “The addition of dressage and western dressage allowed us to highlight even more retired racehorses in successful second careers. I feel very confidently that the creation of the Thoroughbred Incentive Program and our partnership on this show has people considering Thoroughbreds as their next show mount who may not have considered the breed before.”

“Combining our the T.I.P. Championship show with the New Vocations All-Thoroughbred Charity Show is an excellent way to showcase off-track Thoroughbreds,” said Kristin Werner Leshney, senior counsel for The Jockey Club and the administrator of T.I.P. “We had a lot of new faces as well as some horses that came back to defend their 2017 Championships.”
