Racing in Victoria on Friday afternoon heads to Sale Racecourse, where quite a competitive eight-race program is set down for decision. With warm weather forecast in the lead-up to the meeting, we expect to start on a Good 4 – despite the track coming up a Soft 6 early on in the week. The rail sticks in the true position, while the track could favour those close to the rail throughout the day. Action from Sale gets underway at 12:55pm AEDT.

Best Bet at Sale: Cautious Interest

The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained Cautious Interest has finished second at her first two starts. Now third-up in her initial campaign, she looks poised to strike. The four-year-old daughter of Nathaniel finished a half-length off Mr Fabulous at Benalla last time out but, in the process, put four lengths on Real Peaky back in third. She was left in front a long way out in front, so it adds plenty of merit to her performance. Patrick Moloney will have her on the heels of the leaders throughout from barrier two, and with even luck on the home turn, Cautious Interest looks to have the form on the board to break her maiden at start three.

Best Bet

Race 4 – silks#8 Cautious Interest (2)

4yo Mare | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr | J: Patrick Moloney (57.5kg)

$4.60 with Bet365

Next Best at Sale: Golden Age

Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes will be hoping their three-year-old gelding Golden Age can bounce back from a poor first-up showing at Kembla Grange and bring up an overdue win at Sale on Friday. The I Am Invincible gelding was just too bad to be true first-up from a spell, but considering he won second-up in his initial campaign at Warwick Farm on October 19, he will take some beating. From barrier two, Damien Oliver will have this bloke leading the field up, based on prior form, and considering he should gain an uncontested lead throughout, there will be no excuses for Golden Age this time round.

Next Best

Race 6 – silks#3 Golden Age (2)

3yo Gelding | T: Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes | J: Damien Oliver (59kg)

$3 with Ladbrokes

Best Value at Sale: Icy Isea

We will be looking to strike some value early on in the program when the Jackie Beriman-trained Icy Isea looking to break her maiden at start seven. The four-year-old mare is yet to miss the top three in her three goes this campaign, and although she was well-beaten, we are happy to risk her at a big price with online bookmakers. From barrier one, we anticipate Blaike McDougall will use the advantageous draw to his advantage and take up the running, much the same as this girl did at Stony Creek two runs back when settling up on speed. If the Frosted mare can sneak a cheap sectional over the 1200m, she has race fitness on her side, and under a well-rated steer, we expect Icy Isea to run a bold race at any old price.

Best Value

Race 2 – silks#3 Icy Isea (1)

4yo Mare | T: Jackie Beriman | J: Blaike McDougall (57.5kg)

$16 with Neds
