For the second weekend in a row, the Parks track at Morphettville is scheduled to host a competitive nine-race program on Saturday afternoon as the metropolitan meeting in Adelaide. Perfect conditions for racing are set to greet punters and competitors, with the rail out 6m from the 1000m to the winning post and then out 3m the remainder. That being said, every runner should get their chance if good enough. The day of racing gets underway at 12:07pm ACDT.

Best Bet at Morphettville: Chicago Storm

We were with the David Aldridge-trained Chicago Storm last weekend when he finished second when well beaten by Bellinger in a tougher race than this. That was in BM76 company, so the step back to BM68 grade looks to be ideal fourth-up from a spell. The four-year-old gelding gets in perfectly in the weights following Sheridan Tomlinson’s 3kg claim, meaning he carries just 57.5kg on his back. From barrier seven, look for Tomlinson to position his mount outside leader or, at worst, in the one-one upon settling. If afforded that luxury, Chicago Storm has the turn of foot which can put a race like this away with relative ease.

Best Bet

Race 8 – Silk #3 Chicago Storm (7)

4yo Gelding | T: David Aldridge | J: Sheridan Tomlinson (a3) (60.5kg)

$2.70 with Unibet

Next Best at Morphettville: Plus Fours

The Phillip Stokes-trained Plus Fours was a dominant maiden winner first-up from a spell at Pakenham on March 2 and we expect he will go on with the job on Saturday. The three-year-old Cable Bay gelding settled up on speed on that night, and when asked to quicken inside the final 300m, the lightly raced sprinter was quick to put his rivals away. He draws barrier seven under Gary Lo, and with the apprentice’s 2kg claim, look for Lo to take luck out of the equation and have Plus Fours settled up on speed once again. With a bit of luck, he will not be run down this time.

Next Best

Race 5 – Silk #1 Plus Fours (12)

3yo Gelding | T: Phillip Stokes | J: Gary Lo (a2) (58kg)

$2.70 with Neds

Best Value at Morphettville: Heka Express

We will be chasing some value early on in the Morphettville card when the Bryan Holtham-trained Heka Express looks to bring a fourth win when third-up from a spell. The six-year-old mare clearly thrives with a couple runs under belt, and a repeat effort of her narrow defeat at Port Lincoln on March 3 might just be good enough to cause an upset on Saturday. From barrier five, Jacob Opperman will look to stalk expected race leader Spanish Heirloom wherever she goes. With race fitness on her side, Heka Express maps to finish over the top of his rivals and, in doing so, salute at a double-figure price with online bookmakers.

Best Value

Race 3 – Silk #3 Heka Express (5)

6yo Mare | T: Bryan Holtham | J: Jacob Opperman (a1.5) (56.5kg)

$11 with Palmerbet
