Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 23, 2023 Journalists Share Posted March 23, 2023 GRV’s Peter Quilty, Gerard Guthrie and Trent Langskaill provide their thoughts on some of the star greyhounds racing in Victoria. Keep an eye on these, they are worth saving in your WatchDog Blackbook! Quilts Gents, there’s plenty of feature chasing with heats of the Group 3 Launching Pad tonight and the star-studded Group 2 CKH Painting Shepparton Cup Final on Saturday night. Gerard Fernando Mick (Box 1) barely made the final, but you cannot underestimate last month’s Australian Cup champion. Will David Geall train his second Shepparton Cup winner in three years? Trent Always A Thrill is one of three Shepparton Cup finalists that contested the Group 3 Temora Cup Final won by She’s A Pearl. He loves Box 2 (three wins and two minor placings from five runs). Gerard Fire Hose (Box 3) showed determination to beat Fernando Mick. Chris Tilley told me there’s not much between Always A Thrill and Fire Hose, but Fire Hose is “more reliable”. Quilts “With the pace he’s got, anything is possible,” was the thought of trainer Jake Loverso regarding Lektra Heckler (Box 4). Can he stretch his winning run to eight races on Saturday night? Trent Salad Dodger (Box 5) – a greyhound close to my heart – has another chance to break through at Group level. Anthony Azzopardi trained Substantial to victory in this event last year. Gerard Fancy that, a salad dodger talking about Salad Dodger. Unleash Collinda (Box 6) almost won his seventh consecutive race on Monday night (Lektra Heckler beat him) and Jason Thompson has trained four Shepparton Cup winners. Quilts Indy Fido (Box 7) reached the Australian Cup Final last month and his consistency has been rewarded with his fourth overall Group final appearance on Saturday night. Gerard Matt’s Hope is in his third Group final for the year and he was brave in the Horsham Cup Final and his Shepparton Cup heat. He usually begins well and he will have to from Box 8. Trent Amron Boy returns on Saturday night at The Meadows and good luck to the Victorian greyhounds in heats of the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg and Group 3 Mount Gambier Cup.
