Racing heads to Illawarra on Tuesday afternoon as Kembla Grange hosts a competitive seven-race program from 1:15pm AEDT. The rail is out +6m between 1100m and the winning post and out +2m the remainder of the circuit. Unfortunately, we’re likely to be in for some tough conditions as a Soft 7 track may only get worse with rain forecast in the coming days.

Best Bet: Allhallowtide

We’ll be looking to jag our best bet early in the Kembla Grange card as Allhallowtide looks very close to a win. This three-year-old gelding out of Savabeel has had two career starts for John O’Shea and looks fit and ready to fire on Tuesday afternoon. His first start saw him run into Clear Choice at Newcastle on February 25, and despite being beaten by 5.3 lengths, he showed plenty of fight from the rear of the field. He was then beaten a lip at the same course over the 1500m when forced to take rails runs checking off the leaders. This time he gets to the 1600m, and he’s starting to learn what it’s all about. Tom Marquand takes the reins and from barrier six should be finding a more suitable run throughout proceedings. If he does, Allhallowtide looks the one to beat.

Next Best: Cut On A Dime

We found it too difficult to go past Cut On A Dime in the third race on the program, bringing elite form to a BM64 contest. He broke his maiden with a powerful finish at Randwick-Kensington on February 15 over the 1400m and then found himself in the deep end when racing in Group 1 company behind Communist in the Randwick Guineas. He acquitted himself really well to finish seventh in the field of 10 before finding another tough assignment behind Zougotcha in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes. He was clearly out of his depth on both races, but the throw at the stumps has to be respected and trainer Bryce Heys must have a big opinion of his three-year-old colt. He finds the 2000m at the perfect time of the preparation fourth-up and can only run well in this grade. Keagan Latham will have him just off mid-field, but Cut On A Dime’s electric turn-of-foot should have in the winner’s enclosure for the second time.

Best Value: Miss Faberge

The penultimate race on the program sees a short-priced favourite in the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained filly Vancouver Queen; however, we think the race is much deeper than that. Miss Faberge finally broke her maiden status at the 10th time of asking first-up at Goulburn on March 9. The filly out of Russian Revolution got back to second-last turning for home in a small field, and despite a moderate tempo, she finally got the head down to score. Before the first-up win you can tie her form through some very talented three-year-olds, including Pierossa, who we saw run into the minors in Saturday’s Vinery Stud Stakes. This race is much trickier than the one at Goulburn, but we were impressed with what we saw from Miss Faberge. Robbie Dolan will have no choice but to get back from the wide draw, but at the each-way price on offer with online bookmakers, this girl is a cracking bet to at least find the minor money.
