Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 27, 2023 Journalists Share Posted March 27, 2023 What Warwick Farm Races Where Warwick Farm Racecourse – Governor Macquarie Dr, Warwick Farm NSW 2170 When Wednesday, March 29, 2023 First Race 1:45pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes We’ve got metropolitan racing out of Warwick Farm Racecourse on Wednesday afternoon with a terrific eight-part program on the cards. The rail is out +5m between the 1000m and the winning post and then out +3m the remainder of the circuit. With rain on the forecast throughout Monday and Tuesday, we think the currently listed Soft 7 surface will be a fair assessment of conditions for race-day, with the first race scheduled for 1:45pm AEDT. Best Bet: Rebel Shadow Rebel Shadow makes his return from a long 275-day spell, and despite the long layoff, we’re more than happy to be with him on Wednesday afternoon. This son of Rebel Dane went to the paddock a winner on June 25 of last year in impressive fashion to beat Pretty Wild and Bitcoin Baby in a BM72 over 1300m. The race has seen four subsequent winners, and now resuming with two outstanding barrier trials under his belt, Rebel Shadow look set to return a winner here. The prospect of a wet track doesn’t deter us either; with a record of 9:3-2-2, he should relish the conditions on offer. Dylan Gibbons gets him down to 60.5kg after the claim, and although it’s a hefty weight to carry, Rebel Shadow earns it in this field. We think it’s a strong field, so expect a decent price with online bookmakers. Best Bet Race 7 – #1 Rebel Shadow (4) 4yo Gelding | T: Gary Portelli | J: Dylan Gibbons (a1.5kg) (62kg) $14 with Bet365 Next Best: Cut On A Dime We’ve tipped Cut On A Dime at Kembla Grange on Tuesday; however, with him being dual-accepted for this event on Wednesday at Warwick Farm, we’ve got to be keeping him safe. This guy brings some A-grade form lines back to (in this case) BM72 level and should have some class on his rivals. He wasn’t disgraced in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas, running seventh in a field of 10 runners, then ran admirably behind Zougotcha in the Phar Lap Stakes. This race on Wednesday would see this son of So You Think head to the 1600m again, and the booking of James McDonald shows good intent from the Bryce Heys yard. He’ll be getting back from the wide draw regardless, but Cut On A Dime looks too good for this field. Next Best Race 4 – #2 Cut On A Dime (10) 3yo Colt | T: Bryce Heys | J: James McDonald (56.5kg) $2.10 with Neds Next Best Again: Floating Floating resumes from a 15-week spell and was an excellent watch in his most recent trial. He tanked up behind Group-quality galloper Jojo Was A Man, and while the winner of the trial was hard ridden, we thought Floating was doing it nicely in behind. He finished just over a length behind them and finds a nice first-up assignment at BM72 level. The barrier trial was over 1250m at Hawkesbury and he now finds 1400m here – which shows great intent from trainer Matthew Smith, who seemingly has Floating wound up to make an impression on return. He gets barrier three and Group 1 Tancred Stakes-winning jockey Rachel King, and with any luck turning for home, we think he can get the job done. Next Best Again Race 8 – #5 Floating (3) 4yo Gelding | T: Matthew Smith | J: Rachel King (59kg) $7.50 with Betfair Best Value: Sheetice It’s not every day we’re tipping horses in the city that have trialled up at country courses like Goulburn, but that’s exactly what we’ve done with Sheetice in the Warwick Farm opener. His trial was such an eye-catcher on March 9, and the decision to race at Warwick Farm during a midweek metro meeting is an intriguing one. Tim Martin clearly could’ve found a much easier race for this son of Frosted, but based on what we saw in his jump-out, it’s easy to see why they’ve got a big opinion of this three-year-old colt. He sat quiet and hard held throughout his 800m barrier trial and looked to be going through his work comfortably. It’s rare to see them come to town after just one effort, but with Brett Prebble jumping aboard, we’re willing to take the risk at the double-figure odds on offer. Best Value Race 1 – #3 Sheetice (2) 2yo Colt | T: Tim Martin | J: Brett Prebble (58kg) $11 with Ladbrokes Wednesday quaddie tips for Warwick Farm Warwick Farm quadrella selections Wednesday, March 29, 2023 1-4-7-9 2-5-6-7 1-5-11-12 2-5-9-10 Investment: $256 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
