Racing heads to Wyong on Thursday afternoon for an eight-race program kicking off at 12:50pm AEST. The track is likely to be in the Heavy range with rain forecast across the region heading into race-day, while the rail will be out +3m the entire circuit. Read on for our best bets and value picks, with top odds from Australia’s best betting sites.

Best Bet: Cappelletti

Cappelletti was an impressive winner last time out on March 16 at Gosford, breaking his maiden status in the process. It took his fourth career start to find his first win, and we don’t think it’ll take much longer to find his second. This son of Capitalist was given an intelligent front-running ride by Tim Clark and took luck completely out of the equation to make every post a winner. He’s got a tougher task here to lead from the wide draw in BM64 company, but we feel he should be sharp enough to make his way across to the rail. His win came on Soft 6 conditions, so hopefully the Heavy 9 track expected for Thursday won’t pose too much of a threat either. Once Again My Girl looks the main danger after a dominant win on debut, but we’re willing to take a chance with Cappelletti on conditions that look favourable.

Next Best: Aunt Roberta

Aunt Roberta looks ready to find a peak performance as she steps up to the 2100m for the first time. The Pierro filly’s latest outing came at Hawkesbury on March 14 when running into Premierro, who found an inside run to kick clear. Our girl was chasing boldly to the line, though, and with an extra 300m to wind up turning for home, it should be ideal circumstances for Aunt Roberta to produce her best. Tom Sherry takes the reins this time and from the inside draw should be finding the one-one throughout. If she brings her effort from last start, Aunt Roberta is clearly the one to beat.

Next Best Again: Peace Officer

We’ll be looking for Tom Sherry to bring up a winning double on Thursday. Peace Officer’s maiden victory at Hawkesbury on March 14 caught the eye as he powered to the line to score a visually impressive one-length win. The money came for him and he obliged with a strong performance for favourite backers. Now, he finds a tricky assignment in BM68 company. He’s trialled nicely since to imply he’s still travelling well for the Clarry Conners yard, and with Sherry set to sit and stick with this son of Iffraaj, Peace Officer will be hard to beat again. It’s an open race, though, so expect a solid price from online bookmakers.
