Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 14, 2018 Journalists Share Posted September 14, 2018 The single-day Arqana Arc Sale catalogue, which will feature 45 lots including nine slots for wildcards, is now out. Conducted the past two years at Chantilly along with the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, the Oct. 6 sale on Arc eve will be held back at Saint-Cloud Racecourse at 6:30 local time. Twenty-seven horses catalogued have already earned black-type, either at the listed or group level. Nine juvenile colts and fillies are entered, with three–Insandi (Fr) (Anodin {Ire}) (lot 6), Lagrandecatherine (Fr) (Pedro the Great) (lot 24) and listed winner Sexy Metro (Fr) (Diamond Green {Fr}) (lot 14)–already runner-up in group company. Among the 20 sophomores slated to go under the hammer are two-time Group 2 victor Ancient Spirit (Ger) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) (lot 38), who won the Classic G2 Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen (German 2000 Guineas) and Night of England (GB) (Lord of England {Ger}) (lot 18). The latter was runner up in the G1 Preis der Diana (German Oaks) earlier this season. From the eight-strong older brigade at Saint-Cloud is G2 Goldene Peitsche bridesmaid Bakoel Koffie (Ire) (Naaqoos {GB}) (lot 44) and G3 Prix Messidor third Zalamea (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) (lot 28). Last year’s Arc Sale was topped by German Classic scorer and Group 2 victor Poetic Dream (Ire) (Poet’s Voice {GB}), who was knocked down to Astute Bloodstock/Lindsay Park for €900,000. The colt was one of 25 sold (56.82%) for a gross of €5,978,500. The average was €239,140 and the median was €180,000.
