Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 7, 2023 Journalists Share Posted April 7, 2023 By Michael Guerin New Zealand’s most in-form stable could be the team to follow as Addington returns to an Easter Saturday day meeting today. And driver John Dunn, the main man behind the best of Diamond Racing’s horses week in week out says the highly competitive make up of today’s Cocoa Cola Superstars Championships could suit the ultra consistent Heisenberg. Heisenberg starts off the second line in the Group 2 feature over 2600m but the front line is stacked with hard-running speedsters and Dunn says that is ideal. “I really like the second line draw for him, ” says Dunn, “there is plenty of speed and I think he is best following a hot speed so we could get that.” “He has been going great races and he might be over the odds.” The Dunn stable also has Mighty Looee in the race but he has drawn wide with a heap of gate speed inside him. The one to beat may be Beach Ball, who looks to be coming back to his best and should be able to get forward early as he is better drawn than most of the other favourites. One of the highlights of today’s meeting is the return of last season’s champion juvenile Don’t Stop Dreaming in a very strong Garrards Sires’ Stakes heat as he makes up for lost time as arch rival Merlin has been dominating in the north. The other highlights come for the lesser-known names with the Racing Rewards Finals and their boosted stakes ($27,000) have drawn huge fields that will provide great turnover. Dunn says the stable’s best chance in one of those is Franco Cornel (Race 3, No 14) who drops back in class and while drawn the outside of the second line has 2600m in which to overcome it. The meeting has guaranteed $10,000 First 4s on all races and a terminating Pick 6. View the full article
