Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 8, 2023 Journalists Share Posted April 8, 2023 What Easter Monday Races Where Sandown Racecourse – 591-659 Princes Hwy, Springvale VIC 3171 When Monday, April 10, 2023 First Race 1pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Easter Monday racing returns to the Sandown Lakeside surface following a competitive nine-race program at the track on Saturday. Eight races are set down for decision on the public holiday where the rail sticks to the true position throughout on a track currently rated a Soft 6. With persistent rain forecast over the weekend, we expect to be racing on a Heavy surface come Monday. The first of eight races at Sandown is set to jump at 1pm AEST. Best Bet at Sandown: Unusual Culture Unusual Culture has been quite impressive this campaign with a win and two runner-up efforts from four starts this campaign and we expect she will go on with the job on Monday. The four-year-old mare seemingly struggled in tight room on the Hillside track when finishing 1.5 lengths off Faretti over 1400m. The daughter of Unusual Suspect looks perfectly suited to the 1500m this deep into a campaign and if Carleen Hefel can have her in the moving line throughout, it should aid Unusual Culture’s chance to thrive late on in the piece. Hefel’s 2kg claim is crucial getting the mare in with 60kg on her back and if Unusual Culture can replicate her efforts prior to her last start, it is more than a good enough form and she looks a clear best bet of the day. Best Bet Race 4 – #1 Unusual Culture (5) 4yo Mare | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Carleen Hefel (a2) (62kg) $2.80 with Bet365 Next Best at Sandown: Golden Crusader Golden Crusader was a gritty Moonee Valley winner on March 24 when second-up from a six-month spell and we expect the five-year-old gelding will to build on that come Monday. The Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr)-trained stayer managed to lead on that night and despite peaking late, had enough of a gap to salute. Celine Gaudray hops back on board and with her 3kg claim, it means Golden Crusader drops 0.5kg off that last start win. The son of Golden Horn won third-up last campaign at the track and trip he faces this time round and if Gaudray can have him bounding along out in front from the wide barrier, we expect Golden Crusader will prove too hard to run down once again. Next Best Race 7 – #2 Golden Crusader (1) 5yo Gelding | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr) | J: Celine Gaudray (a3) (62.5kg) $4.20 with Ladbrokes Best Value at Sandown: Naboo Star We will be looking to strike some value in the opening leg of the quaddie on Monday as the Ben & JD Hayes-trained Naboo Star looks to build on his recent form. The eight-year-old gelding was a smart winner at Ballarat three starts back, before putting in a stinker at Moonee Valley when something clearly went wrong. He bounced back in fine style however at Morphettville last time out when getting the better of the in-form Rialtor over 1550m. Madison Lloyd sticks on board and following her 2kg claim, the son of Casino Prince goes up just 1kg from that last start win. He will be giving his rivals a start, but we have no doubt Naboo Star will relish a genuine tempo and as long as he handles the going, we expect he will finish the best once more. Best Value Race 5 – #2 Naboo Star (5) 8yo Gelding | T: Ben & JD Hayes | J: Madison Lloyd (a2) (61.5kg) $11 with Neds Easter Monday quaddie tips for Sandown races Sandown quadrella selections Monday, April 10, 2023 2-7-8-10 2-4-6-8 2-5 3-7-10-14 Investment: $128 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
