Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 13, 2023 Journalists Share Posted April 13, 2023 What Awapuni Races Where Manawatu Racing Club – 67 Racecourse Rd, Awapuni, Palmerston North When Friday, April 14, 2023 First Race 12:47pm NZST Visit Ladbrokes Friday thoroughbred racing is being held at Awapuni with an even card of eight races being most likely run on a rain-affected track. The first kicks off at 12:47pm (NZST), with the highlight being the Group 3 Manawatu Breeders’ Stakes at weight-for-age level over 2000m. Manawatu Breeders’ Stakes Top Tip – Kelly Coe A handy field has assembled for the Group 3 Manawatu Breeders’ Stakes and we have put Kelly Coe on top after her big last-start performance for third behind the in-form Brando. She got back in the running that day, but should settle much closer to the pace here from the pole position. She proved when winning four starts back that the weight will be no problem. She has won three times on this track and looks to have a future over middle distances and beyond. The in-form Wiremu Pinn picks up the ride, and if the breaks come her way, then Kelly Coe can have the last say. Manawatu Breeders’ Stakes Race 7 – #4 Kelly Coe (3) 5yo Mare | T: Ashley Meadows | J: Wiremu Pinn (57kg) $8 with Ladbrokes Best Bet at Awapuni – Rusty Lane Rusty Lane finished a game third just four days ago, and that effort would have cleaned him up nicely for this assignment in the supporting feature. He gets a beautiful swing in the draws and none other than Opie Bosson picks up the ride, with Michael McNab already committed to the likely favourite in the race. This tough gelding has been crying out for a middle distance and handles most track conditions. He gets everything in his favour and should be hard to beat. Best Bet Race 6 – #4 Rusty Lane (1) 5yo Gelding | T: Niall Quinn | J: Opie Bosson (56kg) Bet with Bet365 Best Value at Awapuni – Iffshecan Iffshecan looks very well placed dropping back in grade after last racing in Open class at Trentham, where not much went right and she plugged on into a rearward finishing position. She has a much better draw this Friday and is in the right place at the weights. She has placed form on the track and will be peaking third-up from a spell. Craig Grylls, who rode her into second place fresh, returns to the saddle and everything points to a big effort today. Iffshecan faces a handy line-up, but nothing that should worry this mare, and there should still be some value to be found. Best Value Race 4 – #11 Iffshecan (3) 4yo Mare | T: Cody Cole | J: Craig Grylls (55.5kg) Bet with Palmerbet Friday quaddie picks for Awapuni Awapuni quadrella selections Friday, April 14, 2023 3-6-7-8 4-6 2-3-4 5-7-8-12 Investment: $96 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
