Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 13, 2023 Journalists Share Posted April 13, 2023 What VOBIS Race Day 2023 Where Sandown Racecourse – 591-659 Princes Hwy, Springvale VIC 3171 When Saturday, April 15, 2023 First Race 12:25pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes For the third time in the space of a week, racing heads to the Lakeside track at Sandown – this time with a bumper nine-race card set down for the VOBIS Race Day. Headlined by The Showdown, there is close to $3 million worth of prizemoney on the line. Following plenty of rain and traffic on the course, we’re racing on a Soft 7, while the rail comes out 7m the entire circuit. The action out of Sandown kicks off at 12:25pm AEST. He was held up for a run at a crucial point last time out and the way he run on suggested that he deserved to finish closer than what the 3.25-length margin suggests. This is no harder than the races he has been competing in recently. Michael Dee will have this son of Churchill settled midfield with cover, and when asked for an effort we expect Northern barrage to finish over the top of his rivals in the Listed Galilee Series Final. Best Bet Race 4 – #1 Northern Barrage (9) 3yo Gelding | T: Mick Kent | J: Michael Dee (57kg) $2.30 with Bet365 Next Best at Sandown: Belle Savoir Plenty went wrong for the Nick Ryan-trained Belle Savoir at Bendigo first-up from a spell, and we anticipate she will right those wrongs at Sandown on Saturday. She pulled up lame when finishing a distant third behind the smart Foxy Frida and Shohei and did so following a pre-race vet check. Forget that run and focus on what she put forward last campaign. She finished a long neck off Barb Raider in Group 2 company in May last year and backed it up with a three-length defeat to Gypsy Goddess in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks. She draws to gain a suck run in transit from barrier seven, and if she produces a strong turn of foot that she is capable off, Belle Savoir is the class horse in the race and should prove too good. Next Best Race 2 – #6 Belle Savoir (7) 4yo Mare | T: Nick Ryan | J: Luke Nolen (57kg) $2.80 with Ladbrokes Best Value at Sandown: Kooled We will be looking to sign off in style when the Ben Brisbourne-trained Kooled aims to bounce back from a poor showing at Flemington last time out. The four-year-old gelding seemingly struggled down the Flemington straight on firmer going, but he gets back around a corner on a track where he can now get his hoof into the ground. The son of Frosted boasts three wins and four minor placings on rain-affected tracks, and considering he comes to this fourth-up he looks primed to strike. His win two starts back at Echuca was dominant when leading throughout, and from barrier two under Hannah Edgley he should have no issue in holding a prominent spot. With just 58kg on his back following Edgley’s claim, we expect Kooled to prove too tough in these conditions and salute at a nice price with online bookmakers. Best Value Race 9 – #3 Kooled (2) 4yo Gelding | T: Ben Brisbourne | J: Hannah Edgley (a3) (61kg) $11 with Neds Saturday quaddie tips for Sandown races Sandown quadrella selections Saturday, April 15, 2023 1-2-3-5-6 1-2-4-8-9 1-3-8 3-5-7 Investment: $225 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
