In a race reserved for two-year-old progeny of Victorian-based stallions, it was Shesallshenanigans was proved to be far too good for her rivals, scoring a sensational three-length win on the line, careering away with the prize. With speed drawn all over the map, jockey Linda Meech was the beneficiary, sitting quietly on the filly out of Toronado, before powering over the top of her rivals when the button was pressed. It was an impressive win by the $15,000 purchase by trainer Simon Zahra, producing one of his biggest wins as an individual trainer. 2023 The Showdown Replay – Shesallshenanigans Simon Zahra spoke post-race about going out on his own with a trusting group of owners to support his endeavour. “It’s a special day and I just love the way she went about it, said Zahra. “Very professional and just got the job done. “I’m rapt for all the owners and all the staff. “You’re backing your judgment and your owners are backing you which is really important in this industry. “They’ve let me do what I need to do and obviously Ben and Justin are big backers of mine so to get a good win so early in they’ve back me, for these guys, it just gives them confidence.” Linda Meech spoke about her filly post-race and was impressed with the effort and praised trainer Simon Zahra to get the best out of this now black type winning filly. “Her wheels really got spinning turning for home and I thought we were in trouble and that I’d sat this out and she’s not going to run the trip,” said Meech. “Once she got through that home turn she really kicked into another gear. “She’s a credit to Simon. She’s similar, not in size or stature, but her race brain is similar to She Dances. They just make life so much easier. “They don’t spend any more petrol then they have to and they’ve got stacks of ability to go with it.” More horse racing news View the full article
