Fasig-Tipton-Winner-Logo.jpgAfter being represented by three new maiden special weight winners earlier Saturday afternoon, Cairo Prince sired his first black-type winner courtesy of Cairo Cat (c, 2, Cairo Prince–La Belle Cat, by Tale of the Cat) in the GIII Iroquois S. at Churchill Downs, a ‘Win and You’re In’ for the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

Cairo Cat, a narrow maiden winner in a Saratoga off-the-turfer going seven furlongs at second asking Aug. 11, lit up the tote at 17-1 here. He made an early move while saving ground to race in third as they entered the far turn. Awaiting racing room at the top of the lane, the dark bay tipped out off the rail in deep stretch and just got up late to reel in favored Tight Ten (Tapit) by a  half-length. Pole Setter (Take Charge Indy) was third.

The final time was 1:45.35.
