Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 17, 2023 Journalists Share Posted April 17, 2023 What Ipswich Races Where Ipswich Turf Club – 219 Brisbane Rd, Bundamba QLD 4304 When Wednesday, April 19, 2023 First Race 11:25am AEST Visit Ladbrokes The Ipswich Turf Club will host a massive 10-race card this Wednesday afternoon. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, but with warm, drying weather and no rain on the forecast for the area on Monday and Tuesday, we should race in the Good range for most of the program. The rail will be in the +4m position for the entire circuit, with racing set to kick off at 11:25am AEST. Best Bet at Ipswich: Kronenbourg According to the form guide, this four-year-old gelding has had two starts this preparation; however, his most recent run saw him lose the rider not long after the start, so he has only completed one race this time in. The son of Vadamos has only won one race – a Maiden Plate at Doomben on September 14 four starts ago – but after finishing second last start to stablemate Standing Order, he looks ready to break through and win his second this Wednesday. Ben Thompson has chosen to ride this gelding for the fourth time, and if he can get Kronenbourg in a forward position from barrier three, he should be too strong for them over the 1666m. Best Bet Race 7 – #2 Kronenbourg (3) 4yo Gelding | T: Tony Gollan | J: Ben Thompson (59kg) Bet with Unibet Next Best at Ipswich: Cifrado The first race of the day will be a 2YO Maiden Plate over 1100m, in which we will be siding with the Rex Lipp-trained Cifrado as he returns for his second racing preparation. This two-year-old colt had a strong start to his racing career, finishing second on debut and second again in his next start before finishing eighth of nine in the Group 3 BJ McLachlan 2YO Plate at the end of last year. This son of Encryption was given a 16-week layoff before returning on Wednesday, and we expect him to be better equipped heading into the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival. This colt has the best form of the raced brigade, and if he returns in the same form that he began his career in, he will be extremely difficult to beat. Boris Thornton rode this horse in his previous start, and he will do so again on Wednesday, jumping from barrier nine. If he can find a midfield position off the rail, Cifrado will be lengthening down the outside to stake his claim in the final 300m. Next Best Race 1 – #1 Cifrado (9) 2yo Colt | T: Rex Lipp | J: Boris Thornton (57kg) Bet with Ladbrokes Best Value at Ipswich: Rangtira Chris Waller will send his three-year-old gelding Rangatira back to Ipswich in the hopes of getting a better run in transit than last time. On that occasion, this son of I Am Invincible overraced when he settled at the back of the field, before making up ground on the inside to pick off the majority of his rivals in the final 400m. This guy has appeared to want further than 1110m and 1200m in both of his starts to date, so we expect him to perform much better now that he gets 1350m on Wednesday. James Orman will ride Rangatira for the first time, and if he can get him closer from barrier two, we should see the best of him over a much more suitable distance third-up. Best Value Race 6 – #9 Rangatira (2) 3yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: James Orman (57kg) Bet with Bet365 Wednesday quaddie picks for Ipswich races Ipswich quadrella selections Wednesday, April 19, 2023 2-9 2-4-7 2-4-5-8 1-3-5-7 Investment: $96 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
