Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 19, 2023 Journalists Share Posted April 19, 2023 What Cranbourne Races Where Cranbourne Turf Club – 50 Grant St, Cranbourne VIC 3977 When Friday, April 21, 2023 First Race 5:10pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes The weekly Friday night meeting out of Cranbourne is set to greet punters for another week, with a bumper nine-race program set down for judgement. At the time of acceptances, the track has come up a Soft 7, but with decent weather forecast from Wednesday through to race night, we expect to be starting on a Soft 5 track. With the rail coming out 6m the entire circuit, we still expect the track to play fairly throughout. Racing gets underway at 5:10pm AEST. Best Bet at Cranbourne: Suruga Bay We will be looking to strike early on Friday night when the Grahame Begg-trained Suruga Bay steps out at start three in his hunt to break his maiden. The three-year-old gelding comes out of a hot form reference with the winner, Affaire A Suivre, going on to take out the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas at Morphettville last weekend. This bloke finished two lengths off that filly on March 31 when forced to travel three wide with no cover up on speed. Michael Dee hops on board in barrier eight, and if he can lob in the one-one or at least in the moving line with cover, Suruga Bay should prove too good for his rivals over 1600m. Best Bet Race 2 – #4 Suruga Bay (8) 3yo Gelding | T: Grahame Begg | J: Michael Dee (58kg) Bet with Neds Next Best at Cranbourne: Prancing Spirit In the penultimate race of the night, the Phillip Stokes-trained Prancing Spirit looks the one to beat. The three-year-old gelding has a win and two thirds to his name, with one of those thirds coming when chasing home city-grade horses in Desiah and Holly Lolly at the Pakenham 1200m on March 23. The Sir Prancelot gelding steps back to 1000m, which looks to be ideal as he peaked on his run 100m from home over 1200m last time out. Sheridan Clarke will look to use her 1.5kg claim to her advantage and have Prancing Spirit bounding along out in front. Look for this guy to kick off the home turn and prove hard to gun down, even with the 60.5kg on his back. Next Best Race 8 – #3 Prancing Spirit (7) 3yo Gelding | T: Phillip Stokes | J: Sheridan Clarke (a1.5) (62kg) Bet with Unibet Best Value at Cranbourne: Destiny’s Dancer First-up from a seven-month spell, we are hoping the Patrick Caboche-trained Destiny’s Dancer can strike at a nice price. On debut at Mornington she chased home the smart Rich Fortune and proven Saturday-grade galloper Sorel Rising, before finding it too tough for her liking at Caulfield back in September. The three-year-old filly has prepped up with two trials at Mornington, the latest a smart win when leading the field up and quickening nicely when asked to under hands and heels. She looks to have a bit of upside about her, and as long as Dylan Turner doesn’t get this daughter of Reward For Effort trapped wide upon settling, Destiny’s Dancer looks a smart play here. Best Value Race 4 – #10 Destiny’s Dancer (12) 3yo Filly | T: Patrick Caboche | J: Dylan Turner (57.5kg) Bet with Unibet Friday quaddie tips for Cranbourne races Cranbourne quadrella selections Friday, April 21, 2023 2-3-4-6-9 4-5-8-9 3-8-9 3-5-8 Investment: $144 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
