Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 22, 2023 Journalists Share Posted April 22, 2023 Skyman proved too tough in the Listed Tails Stakes. Photo: Darren WinninghamSkyman ($5) took out the Tails Stakes after covering a lot of ground and storming home three deep. Master Jamie ($14) had been in the placings for his past four starts and this was not to be any different. Under Les Tilley the gelded son of Poet’s Voice got out to lead accompanied by the race favourite Tumbler Ridge and Cepheus. He would lead for most of the trip all the way to the final 300m leading by a length and a long neck at stages of the race. With 300m left to run James Orman pressed the trigger for the Chris Waller trained seven-year-oldto storm out wide and pass five in his run to take the victory. Tumbler Ridge dropped out completely, with Cepheus ($6.50), trained by Matthew Dunn finishing second under Brodie Loy and Master Jamie taking third after a strong run throughout. Chris Waller Racing Foreperson, Brett Killion, spoke post-race on the impressive run from the stablemate. “It was a hit and run mission in the summer but he is up here now for the Carnival and he has picked up where he left off. “Great barrier and great horse and full honours for this boy today.” He will stay in Brisbane along with the other Waller runner in this race, Yonkers as the Brisbane Racing Carnival progresses.
