Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 16, 2018 Journalists Share Posted September 16, 2018 Michael Dubb, Monomoy Stables, The Elkstone Group and Bethlehem Stables’ presumptive champion 3-year-old filly Monomoy Girl (Tapizar) completed major preparations for her next start in Saturday’s GI Cotillion S. at Parx with a five-furlong breeze in 1:00 1/5 (4/41) Sunday morning at Churchill Downs. With regular rider Florent Geroux aboard, the chestnut worked in company with graded stakes-placed stablemate Sassy Sienna (Midshipman) through splits of :13, :26, :37 and :49.20 on trainer Brad Cox’s watch. The four-time Grade I winner is scheduled to ship to Parx Wednesday for the $1-million Cotillion. “She’s coming off a bit of a layoff from the [July 22 Grade I] Coaching Club American Oaks,” Cox said. “I’m not too concerned with the break, though. She’s worked every week and galloped strongly every day. Today’s breeze she broke off nicely and galloped out well. It was a strong work. Over the last couple of weeks, you could tell her gallops have gotten more aggressive and that she’s sharp.” View the full article
