Arcangelo Takes Peter Pan Off Maiden Win

He had to fight for it but ARCANGELO (Arrogate–Modeling, by Tapit) gutted out a win in the GIII Peter Pan S., Belmont's local prep for the third leg of the Triple Crown. Racing widest of all as the field of 3-year-old colts rounded the far turn in this 1 1/8-mile contest, the grey hooked horns with 9-5 favorite and 'TDN Rising Star' Bishops Bays (Uncle Mo). The pair traded punches inside the final furlong and Arcangelo looked all but beaten as his rival got the upper hand passing the sixteenth pole. But with a few final jumps, the son of Arrogate re-took the upper hand and just got his head down on the line first.
