Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 14, 2023 Journalists Share Posted May 14, 2023 What Tamworth Races Where Tamworth Jockey Club – 28 Britten Rd, Taminda NSW 2340 When Monday, May 15, 2023 First Race 1:05pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes New South Wales racing heads to the north-west for a competitive seven-race program on Monday afternoon. We should be in for terrific conditions for race-day, with clear skies predicted across the weekend, while the rail will be placed in the true position the entire circuit. The first race is set to get underway at 1:05pm AEST. Best Bet at Tamworth: Who Goes There Best Bet: Race 7 #2 Who Goes There (7) @$1.80 3YOG | T: Mark Mason | J: Grant Buckley (61kg) Who Goes There simply must be the best bet on Monday afternoon provided the Mark Mason yard elects to race in the Tamworth finale. His debut was sensational when going on to win at Scone on April 17 and we haven’t seen this son of Exosphere step out since. He led them on a merry dance over the 900m on that occasion and at no stage looked in any danger, scoring a three-length win. The clock indicated a horse that may be better than country grade, and considering he’s only been set the task of a step to BM58 company, we think it’s an assignment well within his reach. Grant Buckley takes the reins again after steering him home first-up, and provided Who Goes There hasn’t taken a step backwards, he should be winning. Best Bet Race 7 – #2 Who Goes There (7) 3yo Gelding | T: Mark Mason | J: Grant Buckley (61kg) $1.80 with Ladbrokes Next Best at Tamworth: Burling Burling has the ability of a very promising two-year-old and will be looking for back-to-back wins to kick off his career. His debut win at Tamworth on April 21 was quite astounding considering the young galloper out of the Cody Morgan barn was set the task from last turning for home in the 1000m contest. This Into Mischief gelding knuckled down to the task willingly and produced an incredible turn-of-foot to floor punters at a big price to boot. He’s now been well found by online bookmakers; however, it’s easy to see why, and we think the step up to 1200m only makes him more appealing to back come Monday afternoon. Aaron Bullock picks up the ride this time, and although this won’t be an easy watch for followers, rest assured he’ll look the winner at some stage, hopefully it’s the winning post. Next Best Race 5 – #5 Burling (15) 2yo Gelding | T: Cody Morgan | J: Aaron Bullock (57kg) $4.00 with Neds Best Value at Tamworth: Torowoto Value: Race 4 #2 Torowoto (12) @$16 7YOG | T: Craig Martin | J: Andrew Gibbons (61.5kg) We think the first leg of the quaddie presents a nice opportunity for some value and it comes in the form of the Craig Martin-trained, Torowoto. Considering he’s a seven-year-old, this son of Sheamus Award is relatively lightly-raced and is set to resume from a lengthy 192-day spell. The key factors for finding this guy on top rest on his two performances at this course last preparation. He’s had two starts for two wins at Tamworth and his win over the 1600m on September 29 was a display that keeps us coming back this his peak performance. He scored a dominant 4.5-length win and careered away with the prize in terrific fashion. His first-up form is a concern; however, that’s why we’re getting such a juicy price and considering his barrier trial leading in was just to stretch out, we think he’s going to sneak under the radar of bookies. Torowotto is a cracking each-way prospect and his best can see him be ultra-competitive here.
