Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 18, 2023 Journalists Share Posted May 18, 2023 What Flemington Races Where Flemington Racecourse – 448 Epsom Rd, Flemington VIC 3031 When Saturday, May 20, 2023 First Race 11:50am AEST Visit Ladbrokes For a second weekend in a row, a nine-race program is scheduled for Flemington on Saturday afternoon as part of metropolitan racing in Victoria. With showers forecast in the lead-up, we expect to be racing on a Soft 5; however, as always at Flemington, every horse will get their chance if good enough. The rail comes out 5m the entire circuit having been in the true position last weekend, while racing commences at 11:50am AEST. Best Bet at Flemington: Sigh The Peter Moody-trained Sigh is set to return from a near five-month spell, and considering she has three wins from three first-up runs, she is too hard to pass up. The four-year-old mare produced and electric turn of foot at Sandown in BM70 grade when fresh during the summer, before being defeated by the barest of margins by Jungle Jim at the Flemington 1100m. She returns at the Flemington 1100m for this prep, and following that experience at the track and trip last time out, it looks inevitable that she will get the job done on Saturday. With Laura Lafferty on board claiming 3kg, she gets in with just 57kg on her back, and with a strong finish under her bonnet, look for Sigh to make punters cheerful early on in the meeting. Best Bet Race 3 – #9 Sigh (11) 4yo Mare | T: Peter Moody | J: Laura Lafferty (a3) (60kg) $3 with Bet365 Next Best at Flemington: Logan Street Lion In the third leg of the quaddie, we expect the Chris Waller-trained Logan Street Lion to make his return to Melbourne a winning one. The five-year-old son of Tavistock return with an eye-catching run at Rosehill on April 29 when hitting the line with great intent behind Coal Crusher on a Heavy 9. He gets back onto firmer going on Saturday, which should only benefit him, and with three wins and two seconds from seven runs the ‘Melbourne way’, this gelding looks to have what it takes to salute here. Keats will make sure this is run at a genuine tempo over the 1600m, and armed with one of the best finishing sprints, Logan Street Lion should pack too much late for his rivals to handle. Next Best Race 8 – #13 Logan Street Lion (11) 5yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: Jye McNeil (53kg) $6.50 with Palmerbet Best Value at Flemington: Jenny Jerome There was plenty to like about the way Jenny Jerome got the job done when she stuck to the rail and sprinted clear in a BM70. The step up to BM78 on Saturday is hardly a scary proposition considering she is the best horse in the field based on ratings. Her win at Sandown came in the inferior ground following a smart steer from Laura Lafferty, and with Lafferty sticking on board claiming 3kg, Jenny Jerome goes around with just 57kg on her back. She draws barrier 13 for this assignment, but that’s negated by the fact she will settle at the rear of the field. She has a sharp turn of foot for this grade, and if they overdo it out in front, look for Jenny Jerome to be staking her claim down the heart of the track. Best Value Race 2 – #1 Jenny Jerome (13) 3yo Filly | T: Patrick Payne | J: Laura Lafferty (a3) (60kg) $10 with Betfair Saturday quaddie tips for Flemington Flemington quadrella selections Saturday, May 20, 2023 4-11 1-5-13-17 3-6-13 1-2-4-9-12 Investment: $120 for 100% Latest horse racing tips View the full article
