Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 21, 2018 Journalists Share Posted September 21, 2018 The only newcomer in the line-up for tNewbury’s prestigious Haynes, Hanson & Clark Conditions S. which has been won by Henbit, Shergar (GB), Rainbow Quest, King’s Theatre (Ire) and Nayef and in which Authorized (Ire) was third, Raakib Alhawa (Ire) (Kingman {GB}) traded at 25-1 and raced in rear early. Making ground easily from three out, the bay overhauled Dashing Willoughby (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) under hand riding with 150 yards remaining before asserting for a cosy neck success, with six lengths back to the nearest rival. Trainer David Simcock said, “We don’t know if it was a warm race, but he has done what he was asked to and that is fantastic. He hasn’t had an overly-hard time to do that, which is great. We are very happy with him and he has got a future. He has been straightforward at home and done everything we’ve asked. I don’t know what trip he wants next year, but the mare stayed a mile and a half.” The winner is the first foal out of a daughter of the listed-placed Treasure the Lady (Ire) (Indian Ridge {Ire}), herself a half to the brilliant High Chaparral (Ire).
