Ballarat synthetic tips

What Ballarat Synthetic Races
Where Ballarat Turf Club – 240 Kennedys Rd, Miners Rest VIC 3352
When Monday, May 22, 2023
First Race 1pm AEST

Visit Ladbrokes

The synthetic track at Ballarat Turf Club is the destination for racing in Victoria on Monday afternoon where an eight-race card is scheduled. As always the track is expected to be in perfect condition, but being up on speed with showers around will be no disadvantage, with horses avoiding the kickback will only be benefited. A competitive day of synthetic racing gets underway at 1pm AEST.

Best Bet at Ballarat: Hell

Despite coming up a second-elect in markets with online bookmakers, we’re happy to declare Hell from the Tony & Calvin McEvoy barn as the best bet of the day. The two-year-old colt goes up against his older rivals for the first time, but as history has shown, that is no disadvantage for juveniles. She was last seen finishing third behind Celui in December at Bendigo and on debut chased home Blue Diamond Stakes winner Little Brose and the classy Cylinder. The Hellbent colt draws to gain a perfect run in transit from barrier six, preferably in the one-one and with Daniel Stackhouse in red hot form, Hell will be given every chance to break his maiden here at start three on his way to bigger and better events.

Best Bet

Race 4 – Silks#11 Hell (6)

2yo Colt | T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy | J: Daniel Stackhouse (57kg)

Next Best at Ballarat: Lady Ardoyne

Lady Ardoyne has strung together a couple of handy performances at her last two starts and on her return to the Ballarat synthetic, she looks to be one of the better bets of the day. The four-year-old mare has a win and minor placing to her name at the track and in a race that lacks depth outside of the top two in the market, she gets her chance to bring up a third win at start 23. She regains the services of the in-form Jack Hill and in a race that lacks a known speed influencer, look for Hill to take luck out of the equation and take up the running over 1400m. Under a strong front-running steer, Lady Ardoyne is going to take a power of gunning down in the penultimate race of the day.

Next Best

Race 7 – Silks#5 Lady Ardoyne (7)

4yo Mare | T: Tom Conlan | J: Jack Hill (59kg)

$3.80 with Palmerbet

Best Value at Ballarat: Sold Tha Car

The Julie Scott-trained Sold Tha Car was a dominant winner over the 1200m on this track on May 9 and the result was one that we were quite impressed with. The seven-year-old gelded son of Atomic put close to two lengths on a BM58 field on that day and should have won by a lot further having been held up for a run when building through the gears. He has three wins and two minor placings to his name on the Ballarat synthetic and considering Jaylah Kennedy sticks on board claiming 3kg, Sold Tha Car looks perfectly placed to continue his strong form at this track.

Best Value

Race 6 – Silks#1 Sold Tha Car (7)

7yo Gelding | T: Julie Scott | J: Jaylah Kennedy (a3) (63kg)
