Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 22, 2023 Journalists Share Posted May 22, 2023 I’m Thunderstruck (NZ) (Shocking) has fittingly been laid to rest at the property of co-trainer Michael Kent Jnr. The top-class galloper with his rockstar looks and cult following was lost to racing after complications following surgery on his fetlock in late March. In an emotion-charged interview on Racing.com later that night, Kent Jnr expressed his hope, with the owners’ blessing, that I’m Thunderstruck could be buried at his property, as it had been planned for the dual Group One winner to retire there post his racing career. Soon after, the ever-popular galloper was buried at Kent Jnr’s property. “We are just in the process of building a nice garden and memorial for him,” said Kent Jnr, who trained the star in partnership with Mick Price. “It’s a nice spot and we will plant a garden, some nice trees and a plaque. “Once it’s all done nicely, we will have the owners out in the spring and toast a glass to him.” I’m Thunderstruck was a seven-time winner and earner of more than $8.3 million in prizemoney across his 23-start career. OTI Racing and Price and Kent Jnr also race the full brother to I’m Thunderstruck, named Struck Twice (NZ) (Shocking), who broke his maiden at Wodonga three weeks after the passing.
