Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 25, 2023 Journalists Share Posted May 25, 2023 What Randwick Races Where Royal Randwick Racecourse – Alison Rd, Randwick NSW 2031 When Saturday, May 27, 2023 First Race 11am AEST Visit Ladbrokes Racing heads back to Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday for a tremendous 10-race program lined up for punters. The course proper hasn’t been utilized in over a month, meaning the rail will be in the true position the entire circuit. The ground should be fresh and with a light forecast of rain leading into Saturday, we’ve done the form for a track in the Good 4 to Soft 5 range for race-day. The first race is set to get underway at 11am AEST. Best Bet at Randwick: Vomo Island We’ll be looking to salute with our best bet nice and early on the Randwick card, as Vomo Island is ready to win second-up in the campaign. This Peter & Paul Snowden-trained two-year-old returned running a nice placing behind Kandinsky Abstract at Canterbury on May 3, and the form from that event is already producing subsequent winners. The runner-up Celestial Legend went on to score a dominant win last Saturday at Rosehill and Vomo Island has indicated he can do something similar based on his latest barrier trial. He’s better ridden with some cover and from barrier three we’d like to see jockey Tom Sherry try and gain the one-one position throughout the 1400m. This son of Dundeel will appreciate the step up in trip, and with race-day experience starting to show its benefit, we’re hopeful Vomo Island will put it all together on Saturday. Best Bet Race 1 – #5 Vomo Island (3) 2yo Colt | T: Peter & Paul Snowden | J: Tom Sherry (56.5kg) $2.90 with Bet365 Next Best at Randwick: Kin We were with Kin first-up from a 186-day spell last start when going down to Vowmaster at Gosford on May 6, and we’re willing to give her another chance on Saturday. She was given every opportunity to win on that occasion with a perfect steer from Rachel King; however, Vowmaster was simply too good, going on to score a one-length victory. It was still a pass mark for Kin and clearly needed the run after a long lay-off. She now finds a manageable second-up assignment and with the key booking of Zac Lloyd taking the reins, gets her wonderfully weighted against her key rivals on Saturday. She draws to travel mid-field throughout the 1100m journey and with her scintillating turn-of-foot on display late, we think this filly by Impending can go one better than last start, scoring a much-deserved win. Next Best Race 7 – #16 Kin (10) 3yo Filly | T: James Cummings | J: Zac Lloyd (a1.5) (53.5kg) $4 with Unibet Next Best Again at Randwick: Naval College Race six on the Randwick program is for the stayers and we’re happy to stick solid with Naval College after winning on May 10. This European import has made a strong impression since his arrival and after an eye-catching first-up performance was able to reproduce in winning fashion, albeit at BM64 level. It was a confidence building win for this son of Dartmouth who went on to score by 1.3 lengths and now getting further in trip and a light weight after the claim of jockey Jett Stanley, looks ideally placed by the Annabel Neasham yard. We concede this is his toughest task to date but we think Naval College is more than ready to tackle this grade and make it back-to-back wins for the Highclere Racing syndicate. Next Best Again Race 6 – #12 Naval College (9) 4yo Gelding | T: Annabel Neasham | J: Jett Stanley (a3) (57.5kg) $6 with Unibet Best Value at Randwick: Pin Me Up Originally with the Mark Walker stable in New Zealand, Pin Me Up will be making her Australian debut for the Clarry Conners barn and we’re confident she’s one of the best each-way plays of the afternoon. This daughter of Pins has shown peak performances in Listed grade races as a three-year-old and although her recent campaign doesn’t exude confidence, her jump-out at Rosehill on May 19 certainly does. It was a trial that saw the jockey ask for only a minor effort and Pin Me Up travelled to the line under her own steam, narrowly missing Excelladus on the winning post. Her work after the line was magnificent as well and we’re convinced she can only run well on Saturday. It’s a race with plenty of chances and at the price with top online bookmakers we couldn’t get away from Pin Me Up. Her best form on paper is good enough and seeing how sees acclimatised to Australian conditions, she must be the each-way bet in this race. Best Value Race 5 – #3 Pin Me Up (4) 4yo Mare | T: Clarry Conners | J: Zac Lloyd (a1.5) (60kg) $11 with Unibet Saturday quaddie tips for Randwick races Randwick quadrella selections Saturday, May 27, 2023 4-12-14-16 1-3-4-5-14 3-4-6-7-11-14-18 12-13 Investment: $280 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
