Saturday's G1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas at The Curragh was one for Ballydoyle, as TDN Rising Star Paddington (GB) (Siyouni {Fr}–Modern Eagle {Ger}, by Montjeu {Ire}) provided his stable with compensation for their Newmarket disappointment. Prepared for this Classic via the Madrid H. and Listed Tetrarch S., the 3-1 second favourite tracked the pace set by fellow TDN Rising Star Hi Royal (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) under Ryan Moore before ousting that 2000 Guineas runner-up a furlong from home. Asserting from there, he scored by two lengths from stablemate Cairo (Ire) (Quality Road) as Hi Royal faded late to be a further 3/4 of a length behind in third. The well-supported 6-4 favourite Royal Scotsman (Ire) (Gleneagles {Ire}) was ninth and never a factor.
