Metropolitan racing heads to Warwick Farm on Wednesday afternoon for a quickfire seven-race program. The rail is out +3m the entire circuit, and with an ideal forecast leading into race-day, we’ll be doing the form for a Good 4 track. The first race will get proceedings underway at 12:50pm AEST.

Best Bet: Anagain

Anagain has lobbed into the minor money in each of her last four starts, just missing out on the major prize in the process. Her latest effort at Rosehill on May 20 was terrific when storming down the middle of the course, finishing two lengths off Miss Hellfire. She had to turn wide on the track to make inroads late, and had she found a better spot from barrier 11, you’d be hard pressed to say she shouldn’t have gone close to winning. This time she finds a much more suitable barrier and drops down into BM72 company against the girls. The 1300m looks ideal third-up into the preparation, and if Brett Prebble can find the leader’s back throughout on Anagain, she’s going to be very hard to beat.

Next Best: Oriental Tycoon

Oriental Tycoon has now had six career starts for five placings, but he looks ready to go one better in this maiden to open the card. After a stable change at the start of the campaign from the Peter & Paul Snowden team to Chris Waller, this son of Written Tycoon resumed nicely on May 20 at Newcastle. He was first-up after a 24-week spell, leading throughout but giving out on fitness to finish in third position. It was just what we wanted to see on return, and staying at the 1400m at Warwick Farm should only help. Nash Rawiller takes the reins this time and from barrier four should looks to cut across and lead. If he does, Oriental Tycoon is sure to give a bold sight turning for home.

Next Best Again: Wingardium

Returning from a 227-day spell, Wingardium seems to be travelling extremely well coming into this first-up assignment with two outstanding barrier trials. Her latest was at Rosehill on May 19 running behind Chain Of Gold and Iowna Merc, the latter of which has already resumed a winner this campaign. Her form before heading to the paddock was elite as well – particularly in the Listed Heritage Stakes, finishing behind the likes of Opal Ridge and Fred Best Classic winner Hawaii Five Oh. The form has done nothing but stack up in quality company, and if Wingardium can bring some of that racing to the fore, she must be considered the one to beat.
