Macadamia Upsets Queen Goddess In Gamely

Already an accomplished multiple Group 1 winner in her native Brazil, MACADAMIA (Brz) (Hat Trick {Jpn}–Une Autre Etoile (Brz), by Northern Afleet) added her first North American Grade I with a win in Monday's GI Gamely S. at Santa Anita. A winner last time out over a mile in the GIII Willshire S., the 6-1 shot had only a single rival beat past the wire for the first time as School Dance (Animal Kingdom) and Bellamore (Empire Maker) paced the field. Kept outside up the backstretch, she began to inch up into the far turn following Queen Goddess (Empire Maker), swung widest of the leaders off the turn, and unleashed a rally through the final furlong to put that rival away and nab the win. Lifetime Record: 13-5-3-2.
