Metropolitan racing in South Australia returns to the Parks track at Morphettville, where a nine-race program is set down for decision this Saturday. Despite consistent of rain during the week in Adelaide, the track has come up a Soft 6 and we expect to remain at that rating on race day. The rail comes out 3m the entire circuit, with racing set to commence at 11:32am ACST.

Best Bet at Morphettville: Silent Surrente

We have been with the Will Clarken & Nikki O’Shea-trained Silent Surrente at her last two wins, and we anticipate she will bring up a third win in succession on Saturday. The four-year-old mare has a racing pattern which is simply impossible to knock, where she jumps cleanly from the gates, holds a prominent position and offers a kick up on speed. She has been successful on a Soft 7 and then again on a Heavy 8, so we have no doubt she will handle the conditions in front of her. Ben Price sticks on board with his 1.5kg claim, and with 56.5kg, jumping from barrier one, this girl looks to gain every advantage out in front. With a bit of luck, it is an action replay of her last two wins where she is travelling on the home turn, kicks clear in the straight and wins eased down.

Best Bet

Race 5 – Silk #6 Silent Surrente (1)

Next Best at Morphettville: Pompeii Empire

Pompeii Empire has been pretty impressive winning both of his last two starts at Balaklava and looks ready to fire when he gets his chance in town on the weekend. He is another who races up on speed, which is never a disadvantage on the Parks track, but from barrier 12, Jake Toeroek will need to have this bloke moving early to avoid getting caught three wide with no cover. If this gelded son of Magnus finds the rail or, at worst, one off outside the lead, he is going to take a power of beating in the final race of the day.

Next Best

Race 9 – Silk #3 Pompeii Empire (12)

3yo Gelding | T: Richard & Chantelle Jolly | J: Jake Toeroek (59.5kg)

Best Value at Morphettville: Rialtor

The Stuart Padman-trained Rialtor was well beaten last time out in a seemingly tougher race than this back on April 22. Now, with the six-week freshen, he looks primed to strike. The five-year-old gelding tends to do his own thing out in front, and with Sheridan Tomlinson’s 3kg claim getting him in with just 57kg on his back, he is sure to take some catching over the 1400m. He has two wins and three minors to his name on the Parks track, and in a race where he should gain a relatively uncontested lead, there doesn’t look to be too many who can produce a finishing burst to run Rialtor down if he kicks when he needs to.

Best Value

Race 7 – Silk #1 Rialtor (11)

5yo Gelding | T: Stuart Padman | J: Sheridan Tomlinson (a3) (60kg)
