The Western Australian Turf Club will host a massive 11-race card at Belmont from 10:49am AWST this Saturday, with three races being transferred from the scrapped meeting on Wednesday to this program. The track is currently rated a Soft 6, but with no rain on the forecast for Friday and Saturday, we should see the track improve to a Soft 5 or Good 4 by raceday. The rail will go out to the +7m position for entire circuit, which should play favourable to leaders in the short distance races.

Raconteur Stakes Tip: Rusty Dreams

The feature race of the day will be the Listed Raconteur Stakes for three-year-olds over 1400m. We will be siding with the Michael Lane-trained Rusty Dreams, who has only been defeated once in her five career starts to date. At her last start, this daughter of Universal Ruler proved too good in a 3YO Plate at this track and trip on May 13, defeating Universal Flair and Catch These Hands. Chris Parnham will be legged back aboard after missing the ride last start, and from barrier four, we expect to see Parnham push forward and settle this filly outside the likely leader in Rear Admiral. Now that Rusty Dreams has learnt to settle in her races and with a few of her rivals are suspect at the 1400m, she should prove too strong for this field in the concluding stages.

Best Bet at Belmont: Fear The Wind

After completing the hattrick of wins at his last start, Fear The Wind will be seeking his fourth straight win as he steps up in class to a RTG 72+ Handicap over 2200m. This five-year-old gelded son of Fiorente has proven that he is a smart stayer, running over the top of his rivals from mid-field each time to claim victory. Even though he will step up in grade and face some tougher and older stayers, this gelding is in a purple patch and with William Pike choosing to stick with him for his fifth straight ride, it fills us with confidence that he will be a strong winning chance again. From barrier four, we expect Pike to push forward and take the one-one position behind the leaders and then look to make his move on the home bend. If he lets down much like he did at his last two starts, Fear The Wind should be winning again.

Best Bet

Race 6 – Silk #3 Fear The Wind (4)

5yo Gelding | T: Daniel & Ben Pearce | J: William Pike (57.5kg)

Next Best at Belmont: Real Danger

The Daniel Morton-trained Real Danger kicked off her time under the care of her new trainer with an impressive win first-up at this track and trip, defeating State of Power by half a length on May 20. This four-year-old mare returned from a 18-week break to record her first ever win when first-up, and now that she stays at the same track and distance second-up with the benefit a good run under her belt, she looks the one to beat again. This daughter of I Am Invincible will get the services of William Pike who has chosen to retain the ride, and if he can have her settled just behind the speed, Real Danger should be able to let down with her blistering turn of foot and run over the top of the leaders late.

Next Best

Race 7 – Silk #5 Real Danger (2)

4yo Mare | T: Daniel Morton | J: William Pike (56.5kg)

Best Value at Belmont: Uncle Gerard

Uncle Gerard finally broke through for a much-deserved maiden victory at this track over 1200m, after finishing second at his first two starts for the preparation. His trainer Jason Pateman chose to put the blinkers on last start, and it seemed to do the trick, as his three-year-old gelding focused on the job much better and ran away with a nice victory. This son of Alfred Nobel will retain the blinkers for this next start and the extra 200m should only be seen as a positive for him. Craig Staples will retain the ride after success on him last start and if he can find a prominent position from barrier eight, he should give us a good sight at double figures odds with online bookmakers.

Best Value

Race 8 – Silk #9 Uncle Gerard (8)

3yo Gelding | T: Jason Pateman | J: Craig Staples (54.5kg)
