Darwin Turf Club has announced current Board member Craig Trezise as its new Chairperson after this week’s annual general meeting held at Fannie Bay.

Trezise, a long-time member of the Darwin Turf Club, joined the Board back in May 2022.

He paid special mention of the efforts of previous Chairperson Richard O’Sullivan and added that he is looking forward to working with current and newly appointed Board members in facilitating further growth opportunities for the Club.

“I’d like to pass on my thanks to our former Chairperson Richard O’Sullivan in stabilising and overseeing a cohesive and forward thinking board,” Trezise said.

“I now look forward to delivering upon several exciting projects ear-marked to further enhance our racing product for both industry and our members whilst providing a fantastic customer experience in the coming years for our general racing public.”

Current Board members Donna Murray and Ainslie Corridon were voted on to the extended executive panel as Vice-Chairperson and Deputy Vice-Chairperson, respectively.

New members Tony Morgan and Anthony Schuman also join the 10 member board, while Phil Grice and Leanne Evans were voted in by the Darwin Turf Club membership base after standing again as part of their casual vacancy roles they had been filling.

Just under 100 members were in attendance at the annual general meeting with 10 nominations received with 448 ballot papers sent to current financial members of the Darwin Turf Club with 188 votes cast for the four Board positions needing to be filled.

It’s now full steam ahead for the Turf Club with the 2023 Darwin Cup Carnival, which will accommodate eight race meetings, kicking off on July 8 and culminating with Cup Day on August 7.
