Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 9, 2023 Journalists Share Posted June 9, 2023 What Awapuni Races Where Awapuni Racing Centre – 67 Racecourse Rd, Palmerston North, New Zealand When Saturday, June 10, 2023 First Race 12:18pm NZST Visit Ladbrokes Awapuni hosts the Central Districts meeting in New Zealand on Saturday with seven races carded on what will likely be a Heavy track. The first race starts at 12:18pm local time. Best Bet: Butler The open sprint comes up early in the day at Awapuni, and Butler looks well placed to get the job done second-up. He travelled north to Pukekohe fresh and after his customary slow start he found the line nicely late to pick up second place. He will strip fitter with that effort under his belt and will also benefit from a 4kg claim from improving apprentice Jimmy Chung which will bring his weight down to a more manageable 58kg. The best stat to consider is that he is unbeaten in three starts on this course, and if he can get a tow into the race around the home bend, then he should be too powerful late. Best Bet Race 3 – #1 Butler (7) 5yo Gelding | T: SA Sharrock | J: Jim Chung (a4) (62kg) $1.80 with Neds Next Best Bet: Don’t Ask The last of the day should provide a good opportunity for Don’t Ask to rediscover his best form again. He will be backing up from racing on Monday, when he led up and fought on gamely to finish sixth in better company. He overdid it in front on that occasion, and that run would have improved his fitness no end. We can’t forget that this fellow started favourite over Mustang Valley earlier in his career, and back in this grade he should now be ready to show exactly what he is capable of. Next Best Race 7 – #1 Don’t Ask (2) 4yo Gelding | T: JL Rathbone | J: Bridget Grylls (60kg) $5 with Palmerbet Best Value Bet: Nun So Bad The fourth race of the day is for the intermediate stayers, and Nun So Bad gets a royal chance to find winning form again after producing a big effort to claim third on this track when resuming three weeks ago. She will obviously be improved by that run and the step up to a middle distance looks ideal. We’re picking Jimmy Chung is going to have a big day, as he has retained the ride on this mare and his 4kg claim will be a big bonus on what is likely to be a testing track on Saturday. If she can begin with them and take up a spot a touch closer than she did last time out, then she is capable of having the last say. Best Value Race 4 – #6 Nun So Bad (5) 5yo Mare | T: MP Breslin | J: Jim Chung (a4) (54kg) $7.50 with Bet365 Saturday quaddie tips for Awapuni races Awapuni quadrella selections Saturday, June 10, 2023 5-6-9-10 1-2-4-6 4-5-7-10-11 1 Investment: $90 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
