Racing returns to Flemington on Saturday afternoon for another competitive nine-part program, and despite the lack of Stakes events, the card looks jam-packed full of talent. The track has come up as a Soft 7, but with minimal rain expected in the lead-up, we expect to be racing on an improving surface throughout the meeting. Even though the rail comes out 11m the entire circuit, the track should play fairly. The first race is set to jump at 11:50am AEST.

Best Bet at Flemington: Euphoric

The Greg Eurell-trained Euphoric has two wins and a second from his three runs this campaign, and despite being nosed out by Elkington Road at Sandown last time out, he looks a clear best bet in the penultimate. The three-year-old gelding does get back in the field upon settling, but from barrier three he should gain a perfect run in transit and eat up every part of the 2000m on his first sight at the trip. Proven on wet ground and firmer going alike, Euphoric should be simply too good for this lot.

Best Bet

Race 8 – Silk#2 Euphoric (3)

3yo Gelding | T: Greg Eurell | J: Zac Spain (59.5kg)

$3.80 with Bet365

Next Best at Flemington: Jimmy The Bear

Brayden Star is a deserving favourite with online betting sites in this BM90 affair, but the second-up run of the Patrick Payne-trained Jimmy The Bear was simply too hard to go past. The six-year-old gelding was forced to travel four wide with no cover over 1400m on a Soft 7 back in the field and still had the audacity to sprint home sharply, only to go down to the in-form King Magnus by under a length. He draws perfectly this time around in barrier three under Laura Lafferty, whose 3kg claim gets them in with just 57.5kg. Jimmy The Bear already has two wins from as many starts at the 1600m, along with a victory when third-up from a spell.

Next Best

Race 7 – Silk#1 Jimmy The Bear (3)

6yo Gelding | T: Patrick Payne | J: Laura Lafferty (a3) (60.5kg)

$6.50 with Palmerbet

Best Value at Flemington: Horrifying

The Mark & Levi Kavanagh-trained Horrifying already has a win at the Flemington 2540m, while he also boasts three victories and three minor placings from six starts at the track. The 1800m last start was simply too sharp for him, and despite not doing much at Listed and Group level in his two runs prior, his runner-up effort four runs back behind Munhamek reads extremely well in a race like this. Apprentice Luke Campbell hops on board with his 2kg claim, bringing the weight down to 54.5kg. If Horrifying can dictate terms from barrier one and get a cheap sectional or two, he is going to give us a great sight at a big price with online bookmakers.

Best Value

Race 3 – Silk#3 Horrifying (1)

5yo Gelding | T: Mark & Levi Kavanagh | J: Luke Campbell (a2) (56.5kg)

$27 with Betfair
