Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 16, 2023 Journalists Share Posted June 16, 2023 What Te Rapa Races Where Te Rapa Racecourse – 12 Sir Tristram Ave, Hamilton, New Zealand When Saturday, June 17, 2023 First Race 11:08am NZST Visit Ladbrokes Racing heads to Te Rapa Racecourse in the North Island of New Zealand on Saturday for a 10-race card on a track rated a Soft 7 with the rail out 7m. With showers forecast there is a chance the track could be downgraded on race-day, which kicks off at 11:08am (NZST). Best Bet at Te Rapa: Taviarma Taviarma in Race 8 from the powerful Mark Walker barn has been nothing short of consistent with two second-placings from her two previous starts. The three-year-old Tavistock filly is stepping up to the 1400m after running on strongly over 1200m at her previous start and the extra distance looks ideal. Young apprentice jockey Niranjan Parmar claims 2kg, and from barrier 13 we expect the filly will be ridden midfield in similar fashion to her two previous starts. With her turn of foot, Taviarma should be running home over the top of her rivals to hopefully bring up her first win at start three. Best Bet Race 8 – #8 Taviarma (13) 3yo Filly | T: MW Walker | J: N Palmer (56.5kg) $3.20 with Bet365 Next Best at Te Rapa: Aotea Lad In Race 7, the Mark Walker trained Aotea Lad will be looking to pick up another win after some consistent form in his previous three runs. The soft track will suit the six-year-old gelding, as will the 4kg claim from apprentice jockey Ngakau Hailey. Stepping up in distance to 1600m is perfect, and from barrier five you would imagine Aotea Lad should get a nice run near the speed and show his class at a nice price with online bookmakers. Next Best Race 7 – #2 Aotea Lad (5) 6yo Gelding | T: MW Walker | J: N Hailey (58.5kg) $4.80 with Ladbrokes Best Value at Te Rapa: Mischief Managed We will have to wait until Race 9 for our value bet of the day, but the Rae & Williams-trained Mischief Managed should be worth the wait. Last start she was a good third running home well over 1400m, and the start before was a creditable third in the New Zealand Oaks over 2400m. The three-year-old filly will appreciate the soft track conditions and also the step up to 1500m. There should be a good each-way price on this horse to be found with jockey Tegan Newman doing the riding. Best Value Race 9 – #8 Mischief Managed (12) 3yo Filly | T: K Rae & K Williams | J: T Newman (54.5kg) $7 with Betfair Saturday quaddie tips for Te Rapa Te Rapa quadrella selections Saturday, June 17, 2023 1-2-3 1-8 1-4-8-10 2-6-7-14 Investment: $96 for 100% Latest horse racing news View the full article
