Going for $2 million at the OBS March sale, which tied an auction record, expectations were high among the pundits and betting public that Muth (Good Magic–Hoppa, by Uncle Mo) would fire. Those sentiments were not unfounded as the bay colt sparkled in his debut on Sunday afternoon at Santa Anita Park and cemented his status as a 'TDN Rising Star'.

Sent off as the 1-5 favorite, Muth went straight to the lead and never looked back en route to a maiden victory by more than 5 lengths over El Magnifico (Street Sense). The final running time was :57.29. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0.
