Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 20, 2023 Journalists Share Posted June 20, 2023 What Royal Ascot 2023 – Day 2 Where Ascot Racecourse – High St, Ascot SL5 7JX, United Kingdom When Wednesday, June 21, 2023 First Race 2:30pm BST (11:30pm AEST) Visit Ladbrokes The 2023 Royal Ascot carnival rolls along for Day 2 with seven more outstanding races lined up on Wednesday. The Group 1 feature for the afternoon is the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (2000m), while the undercard is loaded with big fields and plenty of quality gallopers on display. With only a minor shower predicted, the Good track conditions look set to continue. The first race is set to get underway at 2:30pm BST (11:30pm AEST) Best Bet at Royal Ascot: Adayar Adayar comes into the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes in fine form for the Charlie Appleby yard. He resumed a dominant winner in the Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes at Newmarket on May 7, going on to score by 2.5 lengths. Despite the small field in that race, the form has stacked up nicely, with two of the four beaten runners recording wins since. He’s drawn to get a soft run from barrier three, and when the race goes on, Adayar can show his class once more – this time against some elite stayers. Best Bet Race 4 – #1 Adayar (3) 5yo Colt | T: Charlie Appleby | J: William Buick (58kg) $3 with Bet365 Next Best at Royal Ascot: Prosperous Voyage In the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes for the fillies and mares, we’re keen to be with Prosperous Voyage down the Ascot straight. After a disappointing first-up run, this daughter of Zoffany repaid the faith of followers when securing victory at Epsom on June 3. She got well back in the ruck but still proved too good when powering over the top of her rivals. She’s drawn the middle alley and should find cover comfortably. If Prosperous Voyage is at her best, like she was at Newmarket on July 8 last year when beating Inspiral, she must be considered the one to beat. Next Best Race 3 – #7 Prosperous Voyage (5) 4yo Filly | T: Ralph Beckett | J: Frankie Dettori (58kg) $4.20 with Neds Best Value at Royal Ascot: Ghaly In the Class 2 Royal Hunt Cup, Ghaly is set for his first run since winning in Class 4 company at Newmarket last October – and he looks beautifully placed by trainer Saeed bin Suroor. This seven-year-old has slowly made his through the grades and now holds a solid record of 10: 4-3-0. It’s a massive field of 33 runners, and though such a big turnout can throw up any result, Ghaly stands out at the double-figure quote as the lightly raced galloper with plenty of upside. Best Value Race 5 – #10 Ghaly (8) 7yo Gelding | T: Saeed bin Suroor | J: Oisin Murphy (59kg) $11 with Betfair More horse racing tips View the full article
