Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 23, 2023 Journalists Share Posted June 23, 2023 What Sha Tin Races Where Sha Tin Racecourse – Tai Po Rd, Sha Tin District, Hong Kong When Sunday, June 25, 2023 First Race 4pm HKT (6pm AEST) Visit Ladbrokes Hong Kong racing returns on Sunday afternoon with a massive 10-race program that includes two Group 3 contests. For some gallopers, it’s the last chance to add some black type to their respective resumes. The rail is in the A position the entire circuit, and although the track is currently listed as a Good 4, there seems to be plenty of rain on the way, so a downgrade could be incoming for race-day. The first race is scheduled for 4pm HKT (6pm AEST). Premier Cup: Beauty Eternal Beauty Eternal continues to make his way through the grades and will be looking to make it back-to-back Group 3 successes. His win in the Lion Rock Trophy on June 4 was a relatively easy watch for backers, with the son of Starspangledbanner finding the one-one throughout before putting his rivals to bed turning for home. The setup is almost identical on Sunday with Zac Purton taking the reins from gate one in the small field, and although Red Lion poses a threat after defeating Beauty Eternal in Class 1 company prior to his latest victory, we can’t get away from this Group 1 winner in waiting. Premier Cup Race 3 – #2 Beauty Eternal (1) 4yo Gelding | T: John Size | J: Zac Purton (58kg) Bet with Bet365 Premier Plate: Tuchel Tuchel gets the nod in what looks like a very tricky edition of the Premier Plate (1800m). He steps up in grade after being defeated in Class 2 company on a Heavy deck on June 10, and although the track condition was a factor in dulling his performance, it may have been the 61kg holding him back as well. He gets in here nicely with the 55.5kg, and with Zac Purton electing to stick aboard this progressive four-year-old, Tuchel shouldn’t be too far away from win number six. Premier Plate Race 7 – #5 Tuchel (4) 4yo Gelding | T: John Size | J: Zac Purton (55.5kg) Bet with Ladbrokes Best Bet: Helios Express You won’t see a more impressive Hong Kong debut without winning than when Helios Express made his way to the races on June 4. He went back to near last over this course and distance before storming down the middle of the track to find second place behind Golden Empire. He would’ve won the race with a better run in transit, and the form has already stacked up with the third-placegetter Flying Ace winning last Sunday. This time, from barrier one, we expect Zac Purton to be much more positive on this son of Toronado, and if he can find the leader’s back throughout before getting off them late, it should be a matter of ‘how far’ for Helios Express. Best Bet Race 9 – #6 Helios Express (1) 3yo Colt | T: John Size | J: Zac Purton (56.5kg) Bet with Betfair Next Best: Golden Express Golden Express is putting together a terrific record for the John Size barn and will be searching for his fourth straight win on Sunday afternoon. This gelding by Not A Single Doubt was a dominant winner on May 7 and gets a 4kg penalty from the handicapper for his trouble; however, he’s a classy type and we’re confident he can handle the task with Zac Purton in the saddle. He’s also had a couple jump-outs leading into this and doesn’t seem to have missed a beat.
