Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 24, 2023 Journalists Share Posted June 24, 2023 South Australian trainers Richard and Chantelle Jolly launched a successful interstate raid at Caulfield on Saturday, landing a determined front-running victory with their New Zealand-bred mare Wild Imagination. The five-year-old went into the A$80,000 Quayclean Handicap (1600m) in promising form in the early stages of her new preparation, having finished second and third in her first two starts over sprint distances in South Australia. Wild Imagination stepped up to 1600m in Melbourne on Saturday and dominated the race from the front. Ridden by Zac Spain, she took advantage of her inside gate and was driven to the lead inside the first 100m. That was where she stayed, digging deep and turning back a line of challengers down the Caulfield straight to hold on by a head. From 23 starts, Wild Imagination has now had six wins, 10 placings and A$240,900 in stakes. She has proven to be particularly effective at 1600m, recording three wins and two placings from six attempts at the distance. Wild Imagination was bred by Qatar Bloodstock and is by Makfi out of the winning Redoute’s Choice mare Scattered Dreams, who is a half-sister to the dam of multiple Group One winner Miracles Of Life. Offered by Windsor Park Stud in Book 1 at Karaka 2019, Wild Imagination was bought by Richard Jolly Racing for $40,000. Since foaling Wild Imagination in the spring of 2017, Scattered Dreams has produced fillies by Charm Spirit, Mongolian Khan and Sweet Orange. She was served by Staphanos last spring.
