Another Friday afternoon of racing is scheduled at Geelong Racecourse, with 10 races to be run and won. Following consistent rain this week, the track has come up a Soft 7, with the rail out 8m from the 1700m-800m and out 11m the remainder. Racing is set to commence at 11:20am AEST.

Best Bet at Geelong – Miss Take

Miss Take was a late scratching at Bendigo on June 18, and despite that false start, we’re happy to back her on Friday. The three-year-old filly finished on the heels of the placegetters in Stakes company in New Zealand in September last year and, after a massive layoff, looks poised to strike first-up in Australia. On debut, she saluted by close to 10 lengths in a dominant all-the-way victory. From barrier four under Luke Campbell, look for the speedy filly to take up the running and prove too hard to gun down in the final event of the day.

Best Bet

Race 10 – Silk #1 Miss Take (4)

3yo Filly | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Luke Campbell (a1.5) (60.5kg)

Next Best at Geelong – From Pantherland

Ken & Kasey Keys will be hoping From Pantherland can bring up a second-straight win at the Geelong 1400m. On June 16, the four-year-old put three lengths on his rivals in arrogant fashion when eased down approaching the winning post. Craig Newitt will look to hold a midfield position from the tricky barrier (16), and if he can find cover and gain a tow into the race, From Pantherland’s strong finishing burst should be more than good enough to account for his rivals once again.

Next Best

Race 9 – Silk #3 From Pantherland (16)

4yo Gelding | T: Ken & Kasey Keys | J: Craig Newitt (59.5kg)

Best Value at Geelong – Royalz

Royalz was only fair on her Australian debut at Pakenham over 1200m, but the step up to the 1447m second-up looks perfect. The Ben & JD Hayes-trained filly was seemingly doing her best work late on the synthetic, and natural improvement should see her prominent in the finish here. She is placed on two occasions on rain-affected going, so we have no doubts she will handle the going.

Best Value

Race 3 – Silk #8 Royalz (12)

3yo Filly | T: Ben & JD Hayes | J: Daniel Stackhouse (57kg)
