The synthetic track at Pakenham plays host to a competitive nine-race card on Monday afternoon. A near perfect winter’s day is set to greet runners, with a top of 14 degrees forecast and no rain about. As always, we anticipate the all-weather track will give every runner their chance if good enough. Racing is set to get underway at 12:30pm AEST.

Best Bet at Pakenham: Outcaster

Richard Cunningham’s Outcaster has placed at both starts on the Pakenham synthetic to begin her career and looks poised to break her maiden on Monday. The Pariah filly has found one or two better so far but drawn nicely in barrier four is set to gain every advantage in running. Dylan Turner will look to take advantage of the handy draw and lead the field up in a field which lacks any other known speed influences. With a cheap sectional or two over 1400m, Outcaster will have every chance to lead throughout and should prove too hard to topple.

Best Bet

Race 3 – silks#10 Outcaster (4)

Next Best at Pakenham: Our Warrior

Jerome Hunter’s Our Warrior looks hard to go past when he resumes from a four-month spell. The three-year-old showed enough during his initial campaign to suggest a BM58 over 1200m looks the ideal kick-off to his winter campaign. The bay gelding has a racing pattern which is hard to knock as he looks to hold a prominent spot up on pace and give his rivals something to catch. With speed drawn to his outside, Our Warrior looks poised to land the one-one spot and in doing so, will prove hard to beat.

Next Best

Race 7 – silks#5 Our Warrior (8)

3yo Gelding | T: Jerome Hunter | J: Celine Guadray (61.5kg)

Best Value at Pakenham: Squizzy Mizzy

Squizzy Mizzy has an incredible first-up record (4: 2-1-1) and we expect the mare to build on that on Monday. The five-year-old also has a win and two minor placings to her name at the Pakenham synthetic 1000m and strikes a winnable BM70 when fresh. From barrier eight, look for Beau Mertens to have the Squamosa mare travelling along out in front in what looks set to be a relatively uncontested lead on paper. Under a well-rated ride, Squizzy Mizzy should give us a great sight at a nice price with online bookmakers.

Best Value

Race 8 – silks#3 Squizzy Mizzy (8)

5yo Mare | T: Phillip Stokes | J: Beau Mertens (60kg)
