Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 4, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 4, 2023 What Sandown Lakeside Races Where Sandown Racecourse – 591-659 Princes Hwy, Springvale VIC 3171 When Wednesday, July 5, 2023 First Race 12:25pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Racing returns to the Lakeside circuit at Sandown on Wednesday afternoon with a competitive eight-race program on the cards. The track has come up a Soft 6, and considering it is the middle of winter, we are not expecting an upgrade. The rail comes out 3m the entire circuit, while racing gets underway at 12:25pm AEST. Best Bet at Sandown: Tasman Park Mike Moroney’s Tasman Park was forced to run four wide with no cover in a fast race on June 14 and was only gunned down in the shadows of the winning post. The four-year-old has raced in tougher contests than this and, with Wiremu Pinn’s 2kg claim, gets in with 60kg in this BM70 over 1600m. The Ocean Park gelding is a winner third-up in the past, and he’s as genuine a miler as you could hope for. With even luck at the right time in the home straight, Tasman Park can exert his dominance in a field like this. Best Bet Race 7 – #2 Tasman Park (2) 4yo Gelding | T: Mike Moroney | J: Wiremu Pinn (a2) (62kg) $3 with Bet365 Next Best at Sandown: Regal Vow Regal Vow has been racing in strong form this prep and gets her chances to bring up a second career win. The three-year-old found one better over 1600m last time out on the Hillside track in BM70 grade, so the step back to a BM64 looks ideal. The Swear filly needs a race run to her liking, but with Majestic Style and Burnt Orange set to make this a genuinely run mile, she should get just what she wants. Her turn of foot is sharp for this grade, while Wiremu Pinn’s 2kg claim gets Regal Vow in with just 57.5kg on her back. Next Best Race 3 – #3 Regal Vow (2) 3yo Filly | T: Charlotte Littlefied | J: Wiremu Pinn (a2) (59.5kg) $3.50 with Ladbrokes Best Value at Sandown: The Gauch David Noonan’s The Gauch was first-up after almost a year off when well beaten in BM100 company on June 10, so the step back to a BM78 and up to the 1200m looks perfect. The Deep Field gelding has two wins and a second from four second-up runs, with his sole unplaced effort coming when beaten a length by Nicolini Vito at Flemington. He will gain a perfect run in transit under Luke Campbell from barrier four, and if he is anywhere near his best, he should give this a shake. Best Value Race 5 – #1 The Gauch (4) 6yo Gelding | T: David Noonan | J: Luke Campbell (a2) (61kg) $12 with Unibet Wednesday quaddie tips for Sandown races Sandown quadrella selections Wednesday, July 5, 2023 1-3-6-7-10 2-4-14-16 2-3 3-10-11-13 Investment: $160 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
