Verifying Adds to Big Day for Justify

Verifying (c, 3, Justify–Diva Delite, by Repent), a half-brother to champion Midnight Bisou (Midnight Lute), added to a banner day for his young sire with a narrow victory over Raise Cain (Violence) in Saturday's GIII Indiana Derby. Cagliostro (Upstart) was third.

The 3-5 favorite sat a tracking trip in second and made his move on the far turn. He kicked for home with a narrow advantage and dug down deep in the stretch to hold off the aforementioned GIII Gotham S. winner by a nose.

Verifying, second in last year's GI Champagne S. and this year's GI Blue Grass S., followed a 16th-place finish in the GI Kentucky Derby with a second-place finish in the GIII Matt Winn S. at Ellis Park June 11.

Triple Crown winner Justify was represented by upset GI Fasig-Tipton Belmont Oaks Invitational winner Aspen Grove (Ire) earlier in the afternoon.
