Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 10, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 10, 2023 What Happy Valley Races Where Happy Valley Racecourse – Wong Nai Chung Rd, Happy Valley, Hong Kong When Wednesday, July 12, 2023 First Race 6:45pm HKT (8:45pm AEST) Visit Ladbrokes Hong Kong racing heads to Happy Valley for the final time in the 2022/23 season this Wednesday evening. The rail is in the B position, and with a favourable forecast we should be racing on a Good 4 surface. The first of nine races is scheduled to get underway at 6:45pm HKT (8:45pm AEST). Best Bet: Seasons Wit Seasons Wit’s latest performance at this course and distance on June 7 was breathtaking when stalking the leaders throughout, then exploding down the middle of the track. The handicapper hasn’t missed him, giving the gelding a 5kg penalty for his trouble; however, he deserves every bit of it heading into this contest. His barrier trial between runs was excellent as well, scoring a seven-length win on the all-weather circuit. Hong Kong champion jockey Zac Purton takes the reins again, and provided he finds cover from barrier six, Seasons Wit will take a power of beating. Best Bet Race 8 – #2 Seasons Wit (6) 3yo Gelding | T: Jamie Richards | J: Zac Purton (61kg) Bet with Bet365 Next Best: Hameron Hameron seems to have found his feet in Hong Kong and looks primed to peak in this 1800m contest. He was the eye-catching performer at his latest effort over the 1650m at Happy Valley on June 14 when finishing less than a length away from Maldives. This gelding by Night Of Thunder has made a nasty habit of missing the kick from some awkward barriers; however, with barrier one on Wednesday, we’re expecting him to find a much more economical run in transit. Luke Ferraris maintains the mount and knows this Francis Lui-trained galloper well now, so look for Hameron to be hammering home in the Happy Valley straight. Next Best Race 7 – #5 Hameron (1) 5yo Gelding | T: Francis Lui | J: Luke Ferraris (58kg) Bet with Neds Next Best Again: Snowalot Snowalot will be having his first attempt at the 1650m and should relish the step up in trip at the end of his campaign. He’s been a consistent sprinter since joining the David Hayes barn, putting together two wins this season, and now gains the services of Zac Purton for the first time since the 2021/22 season. Snowalot’s barrier trial between runs suggests he’s got one more big effort before the conclusion of the season, and with an ideal run from barrier two, we’re happy to find out if he stays the trip.
