Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 11, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 11, 2023 What Grafton Cup Day Where Clarence River Jockey Club – 284 Powell St, Grafton NSW 2460 When Thursday, July 13, 2023 First Race 12:20pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes NSW racing heads to the Northern Rivers on Thursday afternoon as the $200,000 Grafton Cup (2350m) is supported by a strong eight-race program. We should have perfect conditions for racing with the rail in the true position the entire circuit, and with clear skies forecast in the lead-up, the surface should be a genuine Good 4. The opening race is set to get underway at 12:20pm AEST. Grafton Cup Tip: Zoumon In the Listed Caloundra Cup last time out, Zoumon stuck to the task and showed his class to win by a length. Although this time he must carry 58.5kg, it’s hard to knock how well this gelding is travelling as he shoots for three wins on the bounce. You know exactly what you’re going to get from Zoumon with his natural ability to lead; it’s just going to be whether he can hold off the late challengers when finding the winning post. Grafton Cup Race 7 – #2 Zoumon (2) 4yo Gelding | T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott | J: Rachel King (58.5kg) $2.60 with Unibet Best Bet at Grafton: Volcanic Love Volcanic Love beat most of his race rivals this week in his maiden victory at Grafton on July 2 over 1015m, and despite there being some query stepping up to the 1200m, we expect him to take care of them again. He sat outside the leader throughout the journey in his first-up win and this time Anthony Allen has all the options from barrier two. We’ll leave the tactics up to him; however, provided Volcanic Love gets an economical run in the small field, we’re confident he can chalk up back-to-back wins. Best Bet Race 1 – #5 Volcanic Love (2) 2yo Gelding | T: Scott Henley | J: Anthony Allen (57kg) $1.80 with Neds Best Value: Classy Jaybee We’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of Classy Jaybee from a 124-day spell. His last campaign left a lot to be desired, as the son of Danerich never really fired a shot. His first Australian preparation was much more illuminating as he won first-up at Newcastle in August of 2022. His barrier trial heading into Thursday suggests he might be able to recapture that form, and if he does, the odds on offer are simply too good to pass up. Best Value Race 8 – #4 Classy Jaybee (5) 6yo Gelding | T: Jeremy Sylvester | J: Aaron Bullock (58kg) $9.50 with Bet365 Thursday quaddie tips for Grafton races Grafton quadrella selections Thursday, July 13, 2023 1-2-5-12 1-3-6 2-7-8-11 1-3-4 Investment: $144 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
