Geelong racing preview

What Geelong Races
Where Geelong Racecourse – 99 Breakwater Rd, Breakwater VIC 3219
When Friday, July 14, 2023
First Race 11:55am AEST

Visit Ladbrokes

Geelong Racecourse is set down to host one of the two horse racing meetings in Victoria on Friday, with nine races scheduled. With unseasonably nice weather forecast, it would be no surprise if the track improves from a Soft 6 to a Soft 5 or potentially a Good 4. The rail returns to the true position and racing commences at 11:55am AEST.

Best Bet at Geelong – Booboo Boogie

Having finished second in two of her last three races, the Danny O’Brien-trained Booboo Boogie should be breaking her maiden at career start number nine. The three-year-old filly was a good thing beaten over the 1447m at Geelong on June 30, so the return to the track and trip should see her salute in a weak maiden. From barrier three, Linda Meech will look to give this girl an economical run in transit, and if Booboo Boogie avoids traffic this time round, she should be dancing away to victory.

Best Bet

Race 5 – Silk #7 Booboo Boogie (3)

3yo Filly | T: Danny O’Brien | J: Linda Meech (57.5kg)

Next Best at Geelong – Ginger ‘N’ Pink

Peter Moody’s Ginger ‘N’ Pink was well-backed at Caulfield upon resumption but encountered plenty of trouble in the run. That was just her second career start, and first-up from a near five-month spell. We expect she has taken great benefit from that effort and will appreciate stepping back to an easier event. With a nice tow into the race from barrier two under Tatum Bull, Ginger ‘N’ Pink should prove a class above in what looks to be a nice form race going forward.

Next Best

Race 2 – Silk #5 Ginger ‘N’ Pink (2)

2yo Filly | T: Peter Moody | J: Tatum Bull (57kg)

Next Best Again at Geelong – Superstock

Outside of a poor showing at Flemington last time out, Superstock has been racing in good enough form to salute on Friday. The three-year-old finished a length off the smart Lounge Bar Rubi at Caulfield two runs back when savaging the line late. Stepping up to the 1700m looks ideal from what we have seen in recent times. If Brad Rawiller can have him within striking distance on the home turn, Superstock’s sharp turn of foot should prove too much for his BM64 rivals.

Next Best Again

Race 7 – Silk #3 Superstock (6)

3yo Gelding | T: Mark & Levi Kavanagh | J: Brad Rawiller (60kg)

Bet with Boombet
