Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 14, 2018 Journalists Share Posted April 14, 2018 Long-priced favourite Unforgotten highlighted three stakes wins on the card for her sire Fastnet Rock while also opening a Group 1 triple for Chris Waller and a double for Hugh Bowman. Unforgotten went unbeaten in three starts in the spring from 1250 to 1500 metres and has continued to excel as the trips have increased. She most recently finished a good second to Hiyaam in the G1 Vinery Stud. S. on Mar. 31 before turning the tables over the longer trip on Saturday. Biding her time midfield while saving ground as Hiyaam set an uncontested pace, Unforgotten and Bowman swung five-wide off the turn. Hiyaam put up a valiant fight but Unforgotten wore her down passing the 100-metre mark to win with relative ease. Bowman was winning the Oaks for the third straight year. “She’s a lovely filly,” said Bowman. “We had a slight concern of her running a strong mile and a half, it was a staying test today and this filly came through with flying colours. Who knows what’s in store for her in the future.” Pedigree Notes… Unforgotten is the fourth foal out of Memories Of You (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), a daughter of the dual Group 1-placed Most Precious (Nureyev), whose four stakes winners were headed by the G1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches winner Matiara (Fr) (Bering {GB}). Memories Of You was barren for two years after producing Unforgotten, and last year she produced a colt foal by Coolmore shuttler No Nay Never.
