Southland trained horses will look to raid the nest at headquarters tonight.

With the season wrapped up in the south, Addington can expect a few visits from Southland trained runners in the coming weeks.

Ryal Bush trainer Brett Gray is one of those, as he takes two runners on the road. The first of those is maiden trotter Rewiri Hill ($8.00FF) who will be looking to maintain his recent steady Southern form in Race one.

The four-year-old Muscle Hill gelding draws the ace in his first race day mobile start.

“It shouldn’t be too much of a problem behind the mobile. He can get a little bit keen up in behind it.

“He’s a chance with the right trip.”

Gray also brings his promising two-year-old Betterthancheddar gelding Harrys Deal ($7.50FF) to Addington to back up from his impressive debut win at Wyndham on the June 24th. Gray is under no illusions that it will be a test for Harrys Deal in race 2, given he has copped the visitors’ draw.

“He’s a nice horse. Not the best draw. With a wee bit of luck he should go alright.

“He feels like he’s improved a little bit since Wyndham. The 2 year-old race (programmed for tonight) didn’t go ahead, but we thought we’d still come up and draw a line in the sand and see where we lay.”

Tim Williams will steer both of Gray’s runners.

Riversdale trainer Brent McIntyre will be on the hunt with his promising trotter Switch On ($3.60FF) in Race five. Things didn’t go his way in his recent start at Wyndham, however stable foreman Bronson Munro believes the 3 year-old Bacardi Lindy gelding will be more switched on for tonight’s assignment.

“He’s come through his Wyndham run really well. He doesn’t take a lot of work, and he seems good.

“I’d say Brad (Williamson) will be positive out of the gate. If he’s not finishing top 2 I’d be pretty disappointed.”

North Otago based trainers, Phil and Brad Williamson, will also have a handy truckload of runners that will offer value for punters with

Race 3: Top Pocket Chance ($3.60FF)

Race 8: Dominations Call ($10.00FF) and Jimmy Carter ($5.00FF)

Race 10: Aint No Angel ($11.00FF)
