Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 14, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 14, 2023 What Belmont Classic Day Where Belmont Park Racecourse – Saintly Entrance, Burswood WA 6100 When Saturday, July 15, 2023 First Race 11:34am AWST Visit Ladbrokes The Listed Belmont Classic for the three-year-olds heads a nine-race card this Saturday afternoon at Perth’s Belmont Park. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, and with more rain on the forecast for Friday, we expect the track stay in the Soft rating for the entire program. The rail will be in the +9m position for the entire circuit, with the opening race set to kick off at 11:34am AWST. Belmont Classic Tip – Ihts Closing Inn In the 2200m feature, Ihts Closing Inn will be seeking her fifth-straight win. This daughter of Sessions took another big step last start when she took out the Listed Belmont Oaks over 2000m at this track, defeating Sesswa by just under a length while ticking off the 2000m-plus box. From barrier nine on Saturday, William Pike will have a task on his hands to gain an economical run; however, this filly has shown she can race on-speed or from behind, and that should give Pike options upon settling. Belmont Classic Race 8 – #5 Ihts Closing Inn (9) 3yo Filly | T: Adam Durrant | J: William Pike (54.5kg) $2.50 with Palmerbet Best Bet at Belmont – Empress Of India The Dion Luciani-trained Empress Of India was beaten by the barest of margins first-up behind Rupert’s Empire at the Belmont 1000m. Now that she has that run under her belt, draws a nice barrier and gets a 1.5kg weight swing in her favour on Rupert’s Empire, this daughter of Universal Ruler should turn the tables this weekend at the same track and trip. William Pike will have his first ride on this filly, and from barrier two we expect him to have her in a stalking position and ready to pounce in the final 300m. Best Bet Race 1 – #6 Empress Of India (2) 3yo Filly | T: Dion Luciani | J: William Pike (55.5kg) $4 with Bet365 Next Best at Belmont – Crescent City After finishing in the placings at all three of his starts this preparation, Crescent City from the Grant & Alana Williams yard will get another chance to win this weekend. The five-year-old gelding was very good last start behind Rare Encounter as he chased the leader from back in the field and only went down by a half-head on the line. This son of Fiorente will appreciate the slight rise in distance from 1600m to 1650m, as well as the 3kg claim from Brayden Gaerth, which gets him into this race with only 56.5kg. The favourite appears to be the horse to beat; however, with Vast Art carrying 60kg and at the end of a long preparation, we are happy to bet around him. Next Best Race 6 – #2 Crescent City (2) 5yo Gelding | T: Dion Luciani | J: Brayden Gaerth (a3) (59.5kg) $5 with Neds Best Value at Belmont – Hint Of Mint We will be hoping to blast out in the last with Hint Of Mint from the Neville Parnham yard seeking a hat-trick of wins. This five-year-old mare has been very good at her last two starts, running on from mid-field both times to chase down the leaders and record easy wins at this track and trip (1200m). This daughter of Delago Deluxe is just about in career-best form at the moment, and if Brad Parnham is able to find a back to follow one horse off the rail from barrier 13, Hint Of Mint should be finishing strong and playing a prominent role in the finish. Best Value Race 9 – #6 Hint Of Mint (13) 6yo Mare | T: Neville Parnham | J: Brad Parnham (58kg) $13 with Unibet Saturday quaddie tips for Belmont Classic Day Belmont quadrella selections Saturday, July 15, 2023 1-2 Field 2-5 2-6-12-13 Investment: $224 for 100% All horse racing tips View the full article
