Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 14, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 14, 2023 What Pakenham Races Where Pakenham Racing Club – 420 Nar Nar Goon–Longwarry Rd, Tynong VIC 3813 When Sunday, July 16, 2023 First Race 12:05pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes It is Mosstrooper Steeplechase Day at Pakenham on Sunday afternoon with six races scheduled over the obstacles. The track has come up a Soft 6 at the time of acceptances, while the rail comes out 12m the entire circuit for the track’s feature jumps meeting of the year. Racing is set to get underway at 12:05pm AEST. Best Bet at Pakenham: Stern Idol Stern Idol has not been since seen his failure in the Grand Annual Steeplechase at Warrnambool in early May. He has been back to the trials on two occasions since that run and has put in his regular dominant performances at each of those outings. He loves Pakenham winning both of his previous starts at the track, including the JEH Spencer Memorial two runs back by 15 lengths. Will McCarthy will have the six-year-old doing as he pleases out in front and with a clean jumping display, Stern Idol should be justifying his short quote. Best Bet Race 6 – #3 Stern Idol (6) 6yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Will McCarthy (67kg) $1.45 with PlayUp Next Best at Pakenham: Saunter Boy Saunter Boy is without a doubt the best jumper in the country, and we expect he will put his best hoof forward in the Brendan Drechsler Hurdle. The ghostly grey has not been at the track since his midfield finish in The Australian Hurdle at Sandown, but with the freshen-up he looks set to turn the tables on Circle The Sun. From barrier three, Will McCarthy will have Saunter Boy stalking Circle The Sun wherever he goes and when asked for an effort, we expect Saunter Boy to exert his class late on. Next Best Race 4 – #1 Saunter Boy (3) 10yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Will McCarthy (71kg) $2 with Boombet Best Value at Pakenham: Contradeel Kathryn Durden’s Contradeel put in a much-improved performance when finishing second behind Gunalova at Warrnambool on June 18. We anticipate the five-year-old gelding will go one better on Sunday. He was forced to sustain a long run 800m out from home and managed to reel in everyone but the leader. With a similar run in transit expected and Campbell Rawiller hopping on board claiming 3kg, Contradeel looks a great value play with online bookmakers early on in the program. Best Value Race 2 – #2 Contradeel (5) 5yo Gelding | T: Kathryn Durden | J: Campbell Rawiller (a3) (69.5kg) $9.50 with Bet365 Sunday quaddie tips for Pakenham races Pakenham quadrella selections Sunday, July 16, 2023 Field 1-3 3-5-8 3 Investment: $36 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
