Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 15, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 15, 2023 What Ballarat Synthetic Races Where Ballarat Turf Club – 240 Kennedys Rd, Miners Rest VIC 3352 When Tuesday, July 18, 2023 First Race 1pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes The synthetic surface at Ballarat is the destination for racing in Victoria on Tuesday afternoon with eight races carded. A typically cold but mainly fair day is forecast on the weather front, so the track should play fairly with minimal kickback. Racing is set to get underway at 1pm AEST. Best Bet at Ballarat: Kodiak The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Kodiak backed up his maiden victory at Casterton with a smart 1500m on the Ballarat Synthetic on June 27. The three-year-old gelding had finished second at all five of his previous starts, but following his maiden win, he looks ready to go on with things. The son of Flying Artie has a racing pattern which suits the synthetic surface as he likes to jump on the bunny and lead. From barrier 13, with Ryan Houston on board claiming 2kg gets him in nicely with 61.5kg for a horse of his ability. The step back to 1400m from the 1500m is no deterrent and if Kodiak is at his best, he is a clear best bet. Best Bet Race 5 – #1 Kodiak (13) 3yo Gelding | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Ryan Houston (a2) (63.5kg) $3.50 with PlayUp Next Best at Ballarat: Let Her Rain Let Her Rain had no luck on debut when finishing second beaten under a half-length over 1000m and looks a logical play as she steps up to the 1200m. Having been forced to travel three-wide with no cover up on speed, the Manhattan Rain filly was clearly doing her best work late when narrowing the margin behind Zequel. She draws barrier one on Tuesday under Jarrod Lorensini which will negate any bad luck upon settling. The three-year-old will need a touch of luck upon straightening, but if she finds clear air, Let Her Rain should just prove too good late on. Next Best Race 2 – #10 Let Her Rain (1) 3yo Filly | T: Melody Cunningham | J: Jarrod Lorensini (56kg) $5 with Boombet Best Value at Ballarat: Broadway Lane Alexander Justice’s Broadway Lane was a smart winner at the 1000m on this surface on June 23 and we expect he will continue his strong synthetic form. The four-year-old has three wins and a second from six goes on all-weather tracks. From barrier nine, look for Jarrod Fry to take a sit just off what looks to be a hot speed over the 1100m and with a cosy run in behind, Broadway Lane has shown in the past he can quicken nicely and finish over the top of his rivals. Best Value Race 7 – #3 Broadway Lane (9) 4yo Gelding | T: Alexander Justice | J: Jarrod Fry (60kg) $8.50 with Bet365 Tuesday quaddie tips for Ballarat Ballarat Synthetic quadrella selections Tuesday, July 18, 2023 1-8 1-2-5-9 1-2-3-6 1-4-7-8 Investment: $128 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
